Default Cleaning hookah

I dont know if I'm just too used to hookah or what but my hookah has been rather blah lately... flavors less pronounced and just generally not as good as it used to be.. I am wondering if this could be due to the stem or bowl being dirty (bowl has black stuff caked on) and stem I'm sure isn't 100% clean even though i clean it regularly... I'm thinking about picking up some acetone to clean these legitly... anyone tried this?

I've never cleaned it that way but let me know how it works. I usually just use lemon juice and baking soda

Like wildman said, use baking soda, and if you want some reactions for cleaning pour something lightly acid (vinegar, lemon juice). Or maybe club soda. Bubbles rock.
I use vinegar-water solution soak for tough cleaning, usually 4 hours if something horrible happened (or mizo watermelon). Then do hot water and than I find any remaining ghosted flavors (see: mizo watermelon) can be smoked out.
