Default Exotica coals help!

Hey everyone,

I know there's a fair amount of exotica users out there so I'm hoping y'all can help me out.

The local mini mart sells 1kg boxes of the new exotica fingers(with the pre cut scores) for 5$. They have the potential to be my new favorite and numerber 1 coal and for almost half the price I've seen any where else, it's almost somethng I can't pass up. My one gripe about them is they ash so finely that it falls in the bowl :/ not alot alot, but enough. Also I heard that they take in mosture which can cause the splitting. Any ideas on how to dry them out if that happens? Because they're so cheap and a really awesome coal over all, I'm gunna go all out on making them be perfect. and the burn at a temp the makes it a bit easier to ma age the heat. It's just them pesky ashes.

Anyone any tips?

Cheers

Put your oven at a relatively low temperature, place the coals on a baking sheet or something and just let them sit in there for a while.
Bpetruzzo had the exact temp. and time, you could shoot him a PM.

Not a big fan of exoticas, because of the amount of (and how they) ash and don't last as long as coconut coals, but hell for $5 a kilo it's a steal.

I think this is the thread you were talking about(http://www.hookahpro.com/forum/showthread.php?t=19797)
As for the issues with the ashes, I don't have much experience with Exoticas but I still have this issue with coconut coals. I try and tap the ash from my coals in the tray but often some ash falls off before I can get it off the bowl so I try and blow it off so it doesn't go back into the bowl once I put the ashed coal back on and start to inhale again. Hope this helps.

Yes, thanks Cypher.

I ash my Exoticas every 15 minutes or so. They do ash a lot, but they're good coals.

First off WTH! $5!?? I think online vendors are taking advantage of us .. selling them for $8. Why don't you buy a couple cases and we will all buy them off you for $6!? These are some great coals!

You don't need to put them in the oven or anything like that, that was a special circumstance.
I have a box of these coals and I like them a lot. I switch off between these and Coconaras, more so Coconaras lately.

Anyway. Put the coal on your stove top on high and flip them when they get to be about halfway cooked.

The light ash is fine, I actually like how they burn, they are a VERY dense coal and burn for a long time. I only ash mine about every 10-15 minutes. Some ash on your bowl is not a big deal, it is when you poke big holes and embers get in there that it becomes a problem.

Hope that helps! .. Enjoy those coals .. that really is a great price!

Yea that's what I was thinking. I'm used to cocos and ch Nate buck I saw these fo 5 bucks and couldn't resist. I really dig they way they burn and their form. I guess I just gotta be a bit more careful as far as ashing goes. It didn't effect my session that much yeterday but I saw potential for problems and figured I'd ask

I'm really hoping that the price wasn't a fluke as I will be returning

Seriously the ash is so fine, it is nothing to worry about. I've seen bigger embers off coconut coals. Embers are what you should be concerned with, not ash.

If the ash gets in the bowl and mixes with the shisha, won't it ruin the flavor? Or is it just when burning ember get in it?

It's the burning ember that burns your tobacco and therefore ruins the taste a little bit. But only for a short period of time. As long as you poke many small holes, you'll be fine.

You're asking the wrong person, or maybe the right person .. about the Spiced Apple Cider. lol I actually created that blend for them because I LOVE IT!

I like both Nakhla Cinnamon and Al Fakher Cinnamon.

The cinnamon ones were listed .. you can always go to my channel at http://www.youtube.com/hookahpro and do a search for what you are looking for.

I didn't do a Spiced Apple Cider review, because it could come across as biased because I formulated it. SO I just keep my mouth shut and smoke my tasty SAC! haha

ATM I heat my coals up with my gas burners :/ I know I know. Electric coils at walgreens for 7$ ---->I'm far to lazy. Should I just heat them up in the oven on high, and skip the burner? Will they blow up?

I LOVE my exoticas. I think they ash reasonably, (about every 15 minutes or so)
I dislike using coconaras. I don't like the way they burn, I don't like the way they ash, they don't seem to last as long to me, and it seems like the crumble to easy when they start getting small.

I'll stick to my exoticas, thank you! Great catch. 5$ a box is awesome.
