For QL I suggest 3kings...They last longer than many QL out there and there isn't really any taste.

Naturals: I'd go with Exoticas or Rolland NATURAL hookah coal (not Rollands QL cuz they are horrible).

BTW that's kinda bad that your using coals that aren't for hookah. There could be lots of carbon monoxide and you are risking getting carbon monoxide poisoning. Eek that's kinda scary lol

EDIT: My bad...I didn't read "100% natural" about the coals. But still... lol

If you need the convenience of a quicklight, then I suggest Golden Coals or Three Kings. If you have the extra time and are willing to deal with naturals, then I suggest Exotica Coal. Check out the review section for details on these three types...

Don't use coals that aren't supposed to be for hookah smoking. They usually have bad chemicals in them that could kill you. And if i had to pick, I'd get either 3 kings, goldens, or ahklas if you can find them. It all depends which ones you like. Experiment to see which ones you like most

MMMM Mesquite wood smoked Delmonico's :P What a delight!

Back when people started smoking hookahs they didn't have 3 Kings or finger coals, they used a hot coal from a fire they had going. The warning folks give about Bar B que coals are for stuff like Kingsford, Match Lite, Royal Oak etc. briquets.

It's best to stay with coals made for hookah unless you know for sure they are safe.

Alright, PAY ATTENTION PEOPLE!

As Dunkel said ... 800 years ago they didn't have Quicklights and Three Kings, etc ... they used wood coals!

You can use 100% Real Mesquite, it actually smokes really well! Just make sure it is 100% Mesquite and no chemical additives! I have some Olivewood coals that I can't wait to try!

THIS IS IMPORTANT! - The thing you DO NOT want to use is traditional American BBQ coals, such as kingsford, match light, etc and stuff like that. They are full of chemicals and will give you carbon monoxide poisoning, possibly killing you and that is a BAD thing! duh!

I use 3K and Exotica's. Lately I just beenusing the 3K because its easier to light with a torch and get to smoking.

As long as they are 100% natural! We are just looking out for you and for any other members that come along in the future. It should be noted that By 100% natural, it should be STRAIGHT UP Mesquite Coal! NOTHING else!

... for the newbies, please note VERY IMPORTANT, DO NOT EVER use BBQ charcoals, they have chemicals in them that will give you some serious CO poisoning and possibly death! ONLY use coals rated specifically made for smoking hookah.

Many people have given good suggestions on various brands/types of coals (as well as helpful info about which types NOT to use), so here's my two cents:

Quicklights: Goldens, 3 kings, Ankla (outside use only)
Naturals: Exoticas, Dyinmites, Coco-Nara's, Nours
Lump Naturals: Lemond woods are great - irregual shape is the main issue. Any 100% natural wood charcoal will work (no chemicals, starter fluids, ect)
