large - perfect.
small - bad.

thats pretty much the whole thing in a nutshell, but if you wait for someone else to get in here they can explain in depth why its this way.

Taller is better. The smoke will be smoother and colder because it will have more time and space to run down the stem.

Anything over 32' shouldn't get you better smoke though. Also it will be more unstable.

the only thing about small hookahs is that they are easier to clean. other than that, they arent really that great.

Large hookahs cool the smoke much more effectively.

thats something to keep in mind mikesta. small hookahs are a bit harsh when it comes to the smoke.

This is a no brainer for me. I voted for LARGE Hookah. The smoke is smoother, cooler, and taste better overall. These are some of the differences between a small hookah and a large. I've noticed that quality tall ones almost always taste and perfrom better than the small ones. I'm not saying you can't find a small hookah that will smoke good. Of course you can.

If you buy a quality small hookah, it will be able to smoke very similar to it's taller competitors. But you've got to choose the right one. Don't expect to pay $30 for a small hookah, and have the best hookah in the world. This just won't happen and you will be dissapointed. I personally would rather purchase a taller offering. They've always been good to me. And from what I've noticed, they almost always have something on top of the smaller rigs (perfomance wise).

A taller one is only a few bucks more. I'd rather spend an extra $30-$60 and get a tall hookah, than to save that small amount of money and be dissapointed by a small hookah in the end. Tall quality hookahs are not expensive. Many are within the same price range of the smaller offerings. Plus they also look way nicer! A lot of memebers around here have had great success with Kahlil Mamouns. I personally have never tried one, but many here say it's the best bang for the buck hookah you can buy. I think it's only $50 for a tall one.

Look around the review section for details and opinions on many tall hookah's performance. I think if you look through there, you'll find the answer you're looking for.

I'd say a big one. Not like a 30inch but maybe 20-25

If you really want a small one, go with MYA hookahs. The rest are really hard to smoke out of

large one! maybe around 26-29" or maybe a 32"km.

Smalls are nice for easier cleaning and top travel with but I like the smoke from a large better.

Large, but large should be considered 23" and above.

You will get cooler smoke; more smoke sits in the stem after you take a hit, so a larger quantity cools at once.

Most people say the Monoxide will be less as well in a larger hookah.

The only reason you should get a mini hookah is.. umm.. if you like warm smoke and Carbon Monoxide?

depends, do you like to hookah outside or on the go?
or inside or around your house?
if you like to hookah on the go, i'd get an smaller one
if you like to hookah inside or at a place where your hookah doesn't become something that can tip over, get a taller one.
AND
i would probably get a 18 inch hookah.
great first hookah, and it's versatile enough for both on the go, and inside sessions

A true hookah enthusiast doesn't let size get in the way! I sure as hell don't. I carry around my 30 inch Mya constantly and set up and smoke outdoors 99.9% of the time. Psh, I don't got time for small hookahs... :P

Basically I won't buy anything under 65cm or anything over 90 and I prefer stuff that is 70-90cm. Basically the shorter rigs are too hot and carry to much CO too make for a pleasant session while rigs over 90cm are usually too hard to get a decent draw from. I wouldn't bother using a narghile if i were to be limited to small ones. If I want to walk around while smoking (a rare thing) i'll stick with a cigar or pipe.

If i had a 30 inch hookah and carried it on the go, I'd need to buy a new base every two weeks.
lol
