Default What kind of Hookah?

I hope that this is the right place to ask this question.

I actually smoke a lot in hookah lounges in the past few years. But never really smoked at home.
So I do not know how you can see if a hookah is good or not. Therefore I would like to ask you guys for your opinion.

I have bought this hookah on my vacation in Turkey. The hose I got with it isn't very good.
Because I still get air when I close the end of the hose. So I am going to replace it with a razan abu mahir hose.

But the question is, is it necessarily to replace the hookah too? And what is the name of a hookah like this.

I tried it couple of times now at home but I do not get the same taste/smoke as in the lounge.

Visually it looks nice, im curious too hear the result once you add the new hose.

if it has air leaks, and you find them, you can fix them

Its hard to tell just from looking at it. But I'm no expert. The hookah is very pretty and don't see why you would need to replace it if only the hose if broken. I would go to the video section and look at some reviews of how to properly set up a hookah. Then try again before you blame the hookah.

See if it's air tight.

Put the hose and everything in it, put your hand on the top of the stem where the bowl normally sits and see if you can get a draw.
If your hand gets sucked down and you can't inhale through it, then it's air tight.

If you can still get air through, it's leaking.

Do that, tell us the results and we'll go from there!

ps: It also depends on what kind of tobacco they have in the lounge. If they serve Starbuzz in the lounge and you're smoking Nakhla at home, you won't get the same smoke, guaranteed.

What is the top part? Is it like a windcover that is part of the hookah itself? Looks really nice.

Thanks for your advice. At this moment I do not have my own hose at home. But I have tried it with a cobra hose.
And I could not inhale trough it. So the problem is the hose. I searched the internet but could not find any images of my hose type.
It is longer and thicker then those hoses sold on websites.

Also the mouthpiece is removable and thats exactly where I think the air is coming out.
Because the smoke is better when you push the mouthpiece. Could this be fixed?

That is a traditional Turkish style hookah. Depending on where you went in the country, it could have been made by local craftsmen close to where you bought it. It appears to be a really nice rig. It looks to be all brass and probably has some good heft to it. As for the brand, I have no idea. Do what others have said and check for leaks. If it seals good, it should smoke just fine.

Yep. That's a windcover. Many of the Turkish hookahs I've come across have a very simple looking windcover that looks kind of like an old soup can.

Okay, so your hookah should smoke well then! Good!

Yeah, it's probably some handmade noname hose. Hmm I guess you could glue the mouthpiece in place if that's really what's wrong with it.

Funny that we always thought that we know everything about hookahs
I will try to fix the hose then. Do you have any advice for a new hose if needed.

Also I bought a box of coco brico coals from a local vendor here.
But then I read some good reviews about coco nara coals. Is there any difference for smoke/taste quality.

I take it you don't live in the US?

I have one of these:

Nammors are also good, from what I hear:

http://www.socialsmoke.com/item--Nam...e--NAMMOR.html

Check the review section, and you'll find something for sure!

Nah, Bricos are better than Coconaras but there's really no great difference. I haven't had Coconaras but I'm 100% with my Cocobricos!

try putting electrical tape around the end of the mouth piece befor you put it in the rest of the hose that might help is seal better but still give you the option to remove it for clean or it you decide to buy a new hose but like that tip

Finding a leak in the hose is like finding a leak in a gas pipe or tire... Just put some dish soap in water and over the hose, and look for the bubbles when you blow through it, providing the hose is washable. I would think it easier just to buy a new hose?
