Default Broken and need FIXING!

hey everyone. i bought a hookah from a friend of mine for really cheap. its a very elegant hookah BUT the base is broken. Its a standard threaded base that someone cracked right under the threads. so until i fix it...its un-useable. any suggestions....(basically need to re-attach the glass stem of the base about 1 inch..back to the base.)

i was considering epoxy until someone told me "crazy" glue was better. it was not a clean break which is typical of glass so the glue would have a nice surface to adhere to.
will there be any fumes or negative effects of glueing it?

and sorry i cannot post pics. do not have a camera!

thanks.

personally I dont like the idea of super glue. Maybe try to get some glass epoxy they use for aguariums? That way you know its waterproof and safe to use.

Hmmm... since it doesn't get hot there is probably no issue with toxins. Might want to google adhesives that work on glass that are non-toxic though... maybe for use with dishes/glasses.

i would say dont bother and look for a new base, or a new hookah altogether. even if you fix it and get a decent seal, its never going to smoke the same its going to have airflow and wobble. Its going to just be a hassle

I had a similar break on a base. I used J-B Weld which is a 2 part epoxy. It works really well and can take all kinds of conditions. Superheat crazy glue and you : get cyanide gas.

+1 on aquarium epoxy/glue... if it ain't gonna kill the little fishies, probably won't kill you!

I could've sworn I saw someone on hp putting a threaded stem into a regular bell vase, vase might have been a larger size though, but with grommets it worked, just don't remember who posted it.

Use a 100% silicone based adhesive. Epoxies and glues can give off dangerous, odorless fumes for weeks, sometimes even longer. If you wouldn't eat off of it, don't use it on your pipe.

Better option: Just buy a new bottle. It's not like they're expensive.

Why not just buy a regular glass base and put a rubber gasket over the threads...

I know, it sounds crazy, but.... (shhhhh its a secret), its the same damn thing as a regular stem with a rubber gasket.
