Maybe he's smoking tombac?

Could be, but if I understand tombac correctly, there should still be coals and tobacco? All I'm sayin' is Tim Burton should've consulted the HP community to be sure the hookah in the movie was as accurate as possible.

The cat was really cool but the caterpillar looked rather gruff (at least compared to the original) not that I am compaining. I can't wait to see how it plays out in Phantasmagoria (as there aren't going to be any special effects, says the director).

It was an amazing movie! I like how it didn't try to be the books, but a follow up to the rumored book Carrol was working on when he died.

I noticed the purge (or rather, lack of) as well. I was with a friend...who finds smoking deplorable, so I couldn't comment without raising any questions. Funny enough, she started asking me question about hookah as I was walking her to her car.

I actually paused the movie the first time the caterpillar was shown to check out the hookah. Clearly the missed out on a great movie tie in, I would have bought a Alice in Wonderland hookah.

I really enjoyed the movie. I thought it was a nice twist to the story and the rest was well done also. Great relaxing enjoyment and yeah, who could resist the "hookah smoking caterpillar?" Smoke happy.

I havent seen the movie yet considering.... I just kept thinking how Tim Burton needs to do another original Movie. Willy Wonka was torture most of the way through.

Also nobody beats Sammy Davis Jr's caterpillar.... It looks like he uses a nice hookah as well, just pretends to smoke on it though I think.

Check it out the scene...

Thats the Alice In Wonderland (1985) I Grew Up on watching on VHS countless times. Really don't know why I would want to see a remake. Then you also got the cartoon I have seen another million times.

On Halloween Im going to be a caterpiliar and sit on the mushroom and sit in the front yard smoking asking all the kids WHOOOOO Arrrreee Youuu. It will be awesome. For the movie the end sucked. A scotish accent and then crap music while a crap dance.

I just saw this 3 days ago and was so disappointed from very early on.
The hookah thing was pretty cool I guess.

I'm a big Tim Burton fan but I can't honestly say that this was one of his best movies. I'd rate it somewhere in the middle. Having said that I did find it entertaining. Did anyone pick up on the "Lord of the Rings" look and feel at the end? Dark and oppressive, a dragon, two large armies fighting in the distance, etc? I have read some reviews talking about this and now that I've seen it I agree with them. What do you think?

Not quite but its a bit odd that you mention it because as I was watching that scene I remember thinking I should watch the Lord of the Rings blu-ray set next

Yeah that movie was awesome.. I watched it while smoking an over-packed bowl of saalaam wildberry... made the movie more enjoyable and tasted like cotten candy.
