Default How long does it take for a phunnel to get started?

I was smoking out of a phunnel bowl yesterday and it took damn near forever for it to get started compared to a regular egyptian bowl. An egyptian is nearly instant with 2 coals for me. And the phunnel took me like 10 minutes with 3 coals.

Is this normal or am i doing something wrong?

My usual setup:
Medium phunnel, Exotica coals (2pcs) and a windcover.
Almost immediate.

I use a small funnel

No windcover:
3 coals for about 5mins, the smoking usually starts up within the first minute. 2 coals for the long run then add the third one again when they start to die down.

With windcover:
2 + windcover for about 4-5min then remove the wind cover till towards the end of the coals life.

This has worked with tangiers, starbuzz, and nakhla for me.

I leave 3 coals with the wind cover for a min or 2 and then take the cover off and smoke. Your doing something wrong coz it cant take 10 mins. Try a wind cover

Depends on the tobacco, nakhla in a phunnel for me takes a while whereas starbuzz and AF is a few mins

Also depends how your packing your phunnel bowl, try not to pack it out. lightly place the tobbacco inside the phunnel bowl. make sure its not touching the tin foil obviously. i take a tooth pick and move the tobbacco around so theres space for airflow. dont worry tutorials coming soon

EXACTLY the same for me. When i use three sometimes i'll put the windcover on for the first minute or two to help it heat up.

It depends on how high you pack the tobacco: the higher the quicker it will start. If you pack the tobacco denser it will take longer to start. It depends on the total airflow. A packed phunnel for me usual starts in like 5 minutes. A packed egyptian does always seem to start faster to me and I think its because the holes are directly under the shisha, allowing more airflow throughout the shisha.

I use a vortex bowl and vivi coals. I put a wind cover on for about 6 mins. Then I take a couple of pulls then remove the wind cover.

Small Phunnel bowl, 3 coconara's with no windcover. For me it only takes a couple mins for it to get started. When coals get smaller I use a windcover. This has worked well for me using AF and Starbuzz.

I Like the over packed method and a decent amount of holes and none in the middle, 3 coconaras or ******* hookah natural's and if you really want it 2 smoke using less coals cut 2 natural coals in half and let it sit for a few mins before taking a drag check out some vids
