It will save you on coals. The use of a wind cover usually replaces one coal so instead of using two coals, you could use one less coal plus the wind cover and the result is the same. A wind cover is a must for those of us that smoke a lot it will save you a lot of coals.

Better heat management. You will use fewer coals and they will last longer.
At the beginning of a session, your bowl will heat up faster which means you'll be smoking quicker.
They have no downsides.

They are useful for starting a bowl mainly, they help keep the heat all around the bowl rather than letting it all go up. I have made them out of monster cans, and have done foil ones, we also have a nice one here. They are useful and a good tool to any hookah arsenal!

makes sense. I often smoke with an mid size egyptian bowl with one 3kings...lasts me little over an hr...a wind cover should increase this time substantially? also...will the increased "heat management" burn the tobacco faster if it seems to be burning ok w/o it?

oo n thanks for your advice. =)

While using windcover, try to remove it at the first hint of harsh smoke, purge and continue smoking (might or might not rotate the coals as well), then when smoke is getting weak pop the cover back on, it sounds like it's more work than it actually is once you try it a few times you'll get a hang of it.

If I didnt have my windcover, Id be using 3 coals on a vortex.

I bought a windcover for $10 from HJ, and now I only need 2 coals and it works just the same, if not better.

Best investment ive ever made

There great for making your session last longer when the coals get smaller. Thats the main reason i bought my wind cover. But like others have said too. There a great way to save on coals and to heat up your bowl.

The many pro's are all above but the thing to watch is not leaving the windcover on for too long or it'll heat up your shisha to where it starts getting super harsh.
