Just keep your tobacco right below the holes regardless of brand. I find 2 coals is enough for any brand, Nakhla, Tangiers, AF etc. About the only experimenting you'll really need to do is with density of pack and hole pattern. The number of holes you poke really seems to make a difference with this bowl as far as airflow. I prefer fewer holes concentrated near the center most times.
For what it's worth, I don't smoke Nakhla out of my classic. It works fine but I prefer using a standard egyptian for Nak.

I've watched your videos and tried to emulate your methods, haha. I tried AF and it smoked fine. Tried Starbuzz and failed. About to try some Nakhla Sweet Melon! Do you smoke AF and pack it dense it this bowl? Any luck on starbuzz?

The only thing I pack extra dense is Tangiers. I pretty much use the "sprinkle and pat down" method for everything else, just a slight pack. I use a windcover on everything, at least to get it started and I tend to keep the coals hanging off the edge of the bowl at first, moving them in when they get smaller.

I'm pretty new to AF and admit I've gotten some throat tickle with it. A denser pack may help with that. I haven't had any problems with SB but I've only smoked it a handful of times in this bowl.

Is it just me or does the crown bowl hold a ton less tobacco?
Besides that I use two coals at time, wind cover as needed.

Will they ever make a ceramic version on this bowl? It could rival the phunnel and the vortex.

Yeah I almost wish it was a little bigger..that's what she said. The bowl is almost too small. I haven't really got it to smoke right with anything. I've followed some of Dee's methods but I can't get good flavor/good smoke like I do with my funnel even if I just pack a little tobacco

Looks like Crown Hookah has new products slated to come out on 03/23/2010. I've been waiting to try their product, but recently the list has diminished. I'm sure this has to do with the new products coming out? Dee has great reviews and how to vids of their bowl!
