Try soaking the gasket for a few minutes before you put it together. Helps it slide in easier.

My old km used to do that, it smoked like a champ though! You have nothin to worry about.

my old chinese hookah used to not sit right. What i did was i removed the grommet from the stem and put it in the base first. Then i would put the stem on. That made it fit fully on.
