Default Packing a Vortex

I recently purchased a vortex bowl, and have been having some trouble getting the most out of it.

When I pack it using starbuzz, I pack the shisha so that it is either the same height of the holes or below them. I barely get any flavor, and sometimes the bowls get kind of harsh.

My question is, should I pack the bowl a bit more? or Is there something I am missing. Should I pack the bowl more dense, or should it be loosely packed?

Thanks for your help!

I'd pack it a bit more, I usually sprinkle it up to the outer rim then pack it down past the holes.
Lightly packing shisha's in any bowl never works for me so I always have my shisha packed more dense than usually suggested.

Also, there's quite a few vids on how to pack a vortex using different shisha's so that might also help you out.

GL!

with starbuzz i sprinkle it in until it is right below the top of the spire in the middle. If its sprinkled in i don't think it matters if the holes get covered. Has worked well for me.

Thanks guys, How many coals do you guys use? I use three, but I can't be sure if that's too much due to my faulty packing.

I start off with 2 and a wind cover for a few mins(3-5), then I remove the cover and just keep the 2 on there.

Before I had a windcover I started off with 3 then for a mins then remove the 3rd coal.

I tend to pack to around the top of the spire, and then just expose the holes a bit by nudging the tobacco back a bit. I use 3 cocos on mine, sometimes have to drop one or use a windcover depending on what brand of tobacco I use.

What kind of coals are you using? I pack the bowl the the top of the middle spire and just pack it down a little bit so the foil and coals won't touch it. The vortex has worked great for me with SB, hookah freak, fumari, fantasia, and AF. I use 2 exoticas on mine and usually don't even need the wind cover.

From my experience with a Vortex getting the right packing method is essential. In the beginning I had some seriously crappy sessions until I mastered the pack.

I use a similar method except I sprinkle the tobacco till it's just over the rim and then I pack it down with a fork until the holes are exposed.

How is it going now flippy?

Two coals and a windcover is plenty for a Vortex bowl.

+1 on this packing method but I use only 2 coals the whole time and then a wind cover to get it going. Then if need be I will remove the windcover.
