They quiet the hookah as the madhatter said, not to mention they prevent it from shaking. I prefer to use one for that reason.

well, it depends on if you buy or make one. The one I personally made from a party favor bubble container, has no effect on the draw, feel's like nothing's there. The ones that are sold, yes I would imagine they would as they have much less holes. Save your self the cash and make one your self, they're really simple.

Mine does not tighten the draw on the smoke at all. Like everyone is saying, it really just quiets your hookah. Sometimes i feel like it helps with harshness but maybe thats just in my head.

ive never had restriction with my diffusers and i have them on several hookahs. IMO it smooths the smoke and it does quiet the hookah down.

The Heba brand Diffuser did restrict the draw on my hookah, however I just took a tapered object and forced all the little holes a little bigger and most of that problem subsided.

Also it really is just to cut down noise in the grand scheme of things like everyone else mentioned.

You can make it out of anything basically.
I have a few made out of plastic and one made from the metal tip of a pen.
Also, they do other things besides quieting the hookah: http://www.hookah-shisha.com/p-1341-...-diffuser.html

I say yes, just don't buy it, make one yourself.

Also, if you check the Homemade section on the forum, you can find a few threads on home-made diffusers.

I agree that its probably way cheaper to make yourself, but I bought one recently. I tacked a diffuser on to my shisha order from sahara smoke and it works great. Had to cut it down to make it fit my base but other than that it works pretty legit. My draw doesn't get reduced at all but I'm not sure if it actually improves the smoke. It does make it quieter and reduces shaking to almost none so it was worth it to me

A diffuser is a mute button for hookahs. And that's it

Its weird, I like it sometimes, then again, it makes it weird with the bubble breakdown.

it quiets the hookah but it also is breaking your hookah smoke into tiny bubbles for increased water filtration which makes the hit a lot smoother

My Heba diffuser does not restrict my hookah at all the only thing you might wanna check is if you have the stem to far down in it. That happend to mine once and it made it feel like I had a golf ball in the stem. lol

You should definitely try it out! I made my own and have been using it every time I smoke since.. the smoke it more flavorful and thick. Make sure you don't have the stem too far down into it.

I got the heba that h-s sells. It makes my hookah a little more quiet. It's basically a piece of plastic with holes in it

I have one and it doesn't tighten the draw at all, it just quiets the hookah and smooths the smoke out. I personally would recommend either buying or making one if you like to smoke and watch movies or television.

I seriously cannot tell the difference in the "smoothness" or "thickness" of the smoke with it on. What it will do is create a "smoother flow" on hookahs that would normally produce bigger bubbles that actually can be felt in the draw as they are created and released from the stem in the bottom. I might have to do vid on this to show that with the same bowl and same coals you will not get the smoke to change at all. If the smoke is cooler, id say only marginally, and well, theres always colder water that could do it for you.

I have quite a few, but honestly, I feel like its mostly a gimmick. If you dont want your hookah to be so loud, I get it. If you have an unstable hookah and the rumble makes the coals move around, I also get it. But putting it on each rig every time you smoke because its somehow a better smoke....not so much.

I put ice in my base and the ice acts as a diffuser.

i use a diffuser on my hookah and my buddy doesnt. i can absolutely tell the difference and i would recommend WITH the diffuser
it makes it quiet
it makes it not vibrate your coals or tray off or to the side
and it makes a smoother pull (you wont feel your hookah bubble when you suck)
it does nothing to the smoke
but i wouldnt pay more then 3 bucks for one thats all but i do like mine

I have one and i can safely say that it does make the smoke better however, it quiets down the hookah which I actually hate.
