Default What kind of hookah is this?

So my friend gave me his old hookah and it's in pretty good condition. I believe it may be a Chinese made but I'm still a newbie when it comes to this type of stuff. Anyone know what kind of hookah this may be? I haven't had time to set it up but it's pretty damn sturdy!

I've been lagging on those photos about the other hookah I picked up from craigslist for 10 bucks! I've been too lazy but it does hit like a champ!

At first glance it looked like a mya. Now it doesn't look like one. Hum, looks nice though!

Well this is clearly an Egyptian style Shisha (that's how they call waterpipes over there. hookah is the indian word for it and narghile the Turkish one.).
Definitely not typical Turkish, nor Chinese made. The bottle or base seems Egyptian. The hose as well, althought the mouthpiece could be Chinese made (it is quite usual to find pipes with parts from different origins) The bowl seems to be a modern one, similar to those found on Chinese made pipes but also on modern Egyptian, or even Syrian pipes. I do not know wether they are actually manufactured in Egypt or in China. Decoration of the stem is similar to some chinese made, but the make, and the material underneath this coat of decorative stuff, seems to be a typical mid-price Egyptian pipe. Plate or ashtray seems Egyptian to me (could be Syrian, but I would say Egyptian. Turkish ones use to be much wider and flat...)

The lounge I used to work for carried some similar pipes for a while. The owner said they were Syrian.

No idea if that's true or not. I'd say that chinese is not my initial assumption. It's a little too handcrafted looking.

Is nice looking rig. The stem looks very "MYA"esque but the painting is a little too "hand crafted" for MYA's likings. And that 8 pointed gold star is very popular over here in Iraq. Here is one explanation of it: http://moroccandesign.com/eight-point-star

This could mean it was a Chinese made stem that was then "customized" in the Arabic/Middle Eastern world. I can't prove this but, hey... sounds good to me.

But, to quote Icanhascheezburger: "Hookah Hose Setup... You're doing it wrong"

If you look in picture one, that clear plastic part that is stuffed into the hose port is actually the mouthpiece, and in picture #2 the wooden piece is actually the hose port end.

Here is a link to the same hose: http://www.hookahstore.com/accessori...ose-p-131.html

Oh and, since I am on a quoting spree lately... to bastardize a quote from another famous movie,

"It puts the hookah pictures on the website or it gets the hose again!"

Okay. Did ya notice in the first pic that the hose is in backwards?

I'm going with syrian on this one. I'm going by the hose port, the itsy-bitsy purge valve (that little hex nut w/ topknot that's found almost exlusively on syrians) and the snap on tray. The two 'glass' globes on the stem I've seen on syrians. The design on the globes matching the base seems to be more common with syrians than on other styles.

The hose is backwards. It's a nice looking pipe! I've seen others like it, but can't recall the origins of them.. That one though looks like parts were bought from different places.. New hose, new bowl..

It looks to me like a MYA. If you look at the bowl, it has the exact shape of the MYA bowl.

Its deffinately not turkish. Most of the turkish hookahs that i have seen and the one i own is a male bowl instead of a female bowl. Regardless, 25 bucks is a killer deal.

It's a Mya bowl but the shisha appears to be Syrian or possibly Lebanese. Both countries have produced similar looking rigs.

That is definitely a MYA bowl; The stem has a Persian feel about it ...

Can we get a better look at the tray and the purge & hose valves?

Well, I would nuance my previous guess. Mark that I suspected the ashtray might be syrian. I now think that the waterpipe is indeed syrian, with a chinese made bowl and hose, as some members sugested...
