Default CH Nats

I bought some more coals (CH Nats) a about two weeks ago from Texas Hookah. When I lite them they give off a really really bad smell and they dont seem to last as long as the box I just finished useing that I bought from another site. Have any ideal why? (if this thread is in violation of "someone" getting kick off the forum then buy all means the Mods can delete this thread and I apologize)

I use the QLs all the time, and they give off a smell when lighting, but it's no big deal. I have not tried the nats, but am anxious too!

Yes the CH typically smell more chemically until they ash over. Once they ash, they are fine and emit no smells.

You got an old batch (old version is less dense). Old ones smell when lighting and new ones are = to CCN atleast in the smell department :3

To me, the Voldemort nat coals kinda smell like ham, the new ones less than the old, and even QL's smell like ham plus cordite.

I can't speak to the Nats but the QL's are really rough smelling when you light them. Even the manufacturer says not to light them indoors.

Oh and you can reference the product (at least for now) but you can't mention the manufacturer.

I would ask texas hookah if they have had any complaints about this particular product and then go from there. Sorry you are having issues.

I got a batch in February and had the exact same problem. I lit them up at a party an cleared out the entire house... I would use natural if possible.

A batch of the new ones has been doing that too me as of late. I had one giving off nasty plastic smelling smoke while I was lighting it recently. Took a long time to burn off but once it was gone the coal was ok.

Reason I don't use those coals. New or old they stink. They seem not to last as long as Coco's or my newly discovered Starlight Nats. Heck even Exoticas for me last longer. I say toss them and get better coals.

yea the Voldermort Ql's smell rough when lit, the nats aren't bad but, I'm leaning towards finishing off the box that I have and moving on to something else a little less acrid and smoky.

Same here. I have a box of the new ones and for the most part they give of less odor than the old ones, but once in awhile even the new ones still give off a bad smell. I think I'm going to switch over exclusively to Starlight naturals. I can get them locally a whole lot cheaper than I can get any coal online.

Just switch to coconaras and you will be fine. I always hated the way quick lights smelled.

I got an old box of them and I have had problems with them, they just don't seem right, I grabbed a hot one to ash with my tongs and it exploded , messed up a rug a little and ruined my session. Lost too much heat. The new ones I had much fewer problems with, just one and that I caused.

I just kick the fan on with the nats. It's only an initial smell. As for longevity, that all depends on your heat management. With a restrictive windcover I've stretched them over an hour. You need to make sure you don't overcook the coals on the stove, though.

CH natural coals definitely give off a funky smell when getting them hot which will stink up your house. So you may want to invest in something to light the CH naturals outside (single coil burner, butane torch, etc)

For the last couple years I have been using Coconara and Exoticas as my primary coal. I light Exotica naturals or Coconara naturals in my house and they do not give off that funky smell, I don't even have to put my stove fan on.

Definitely don't light the quicklight CH coals in your house! Those things omit a lot of stinky smoke and fire! I lit some in my house for a video review and WOW my house smelt like hell for days!

I accidentally stumbled across a good quicklight! .. but I have to run some more tests on it first to be sure I would want to recommend it. It may become my go to quicklight when I don't have access to light natural coals.
