if you want a tighter fit i don't think you should sand it down.

Depending on how much you're wanting to take off, actual sand paper will take VERY little off the outside with some hard scratching. I would strongly recommend a dremel if you have a lot to go.

Love my KMs, but sometimes you do get that snug grommet fit... Have you tried water on the vase and grommet for lubrication? If you have to sand, just run to the hardware and get some sandpaper and evenly sand the grommet, so that you don't get any flat spots for air leaks. I'd go slowly, so as to not take off too mutch. Good luck! I've yet to have to do this yet, and I'm sure the pros will chime in soon with their advise!

You're going to have to work really hard at it. Honestly, I would recommend calling up mya saray direct and just trying to order a couple of their gaskets. I use them on all of my egyptians and they seal really well.

I would recommend trying this first before sanding anything.

I know that the last KM I bought I had to wet the grommet and then hold it between my feet and push down. You're not going to break the thing putting it together just push on the heart down by the hose port/purge - and two months later and it is much easier to put said Trimetal together but it seals tight.

The vase grommet on my Pharonie is the opposite, too loose. I have to wrap some paper towel around it to get a decent fit. You could use this trick if you happen to sand the grommet too far.

I would never use a lubricant to shove metal into glass, even if it's surrounded by rubber. Glass is still glass, so sand it down or get a new grommet.
From a guy who broke his vases before~

I knew what this thread was going to be before I even opened it, the fit needs to be air tight but not rediculous. Sand it down, make sure the grommet is wet when you put it in
