Default Starbuzz price increase?

So, I ran out of my Social Smoke clove, and threw away my Jewels banana and strawberry(yes, they were that bad, smoked several bowls of each and they gave me terrible headaches and the strawberry had a terrible chemical aftertaste to it), so I dropped by one of my local smoke shops to pick up a 100g tin of Starbuzz. Last week, the price was $15, a touch high compared to prices on the net, but no big. Asked for it, and was told it was $27. Double checked it was the 100g tin, and walked out the door as they only had that and Jewels(small cigar store, very limited selection on shisha).

So, I wound up driving into Arlington to get some Starbuzz from another smoke shop, and was told a 100g tin was $25 there, but paid the usual amount for a tin of Social Smoke and a package of Fantasia. Has Starbuzz increased their prices to insane levels, or is this some kind of local tax thing? Anyone else encounter this?

Texas passed a tax increase awhile ago. I'm assuming that's where you are?

Yeah, forgot to mention that. Only thing is, it seems like only starbuzz went up, so I'm not sure what's going on. Also, this literally happened in the span of a week. I think the price was around 15-17 for the starbuzz last week, maybe week before, now it's skyrocketed.

Thats one reason I hate buying local, even more of a mark-up, limited selection depending where you are, and you don't know how new it is.

Yeah, I hear you. I'm itching to start buying my shisha online, but mostly living off limited cash at the moment, and the convenience/immediacy factor is what's got me buying local. Soon as I can, I plan on ordering a couple batches of 250g tangiers for less than I paid for the 100g of SS and 50g of Fantasia today.

here in oregon, one of the stores increased the SB 250g to ~$23. It's not too bad of an increase, especially if you NEED shisha asap. only bad thing about buying local is that the selection is limited, like other people have mentioned

For me local is way cheaper, I can get 250 sb $17 without negotiating, as low as 15 if I give them a hard time

Damn our local shop has SB 100g for 12 bucks but I'll be damned if I'm buying from there again and it's not like I'd crawl across broken glass for Starbuzz. lol

In every state there is another tax that a lot of shops don't pay, most commonly referred to as an OTP.that's why you get $5 nakhla, and $15 SB. If you pay your taxes, your total cost will come out much higher than $15 for SB. Every state is different, NYC for instance is 46% of the wholesale price, here in Utah currently it's 35%, and in July, that will go to 86%. A similar thing just happened to Texas. Therefor, if you buy it in the state, you are subject to the state taxes. If you order from out of state, you are free of state taxes. However, certain states (Utah, Washington, Montana) you cannot order tobacco commercially to be shipped from another state. I wouldn't be surprised to see that same law everywhere in the next few years. This tax is the difference many people see when buying locally, the fact you're seeing $27 100g SB is not that shocking anymore, expect it to be common place, as many smoke shops across the country are being audited for their unpaid OTP. Trust me, it's not the shops trying to be evil, just doing what they're required by law to do.

QFT, I was very surprised, when I didn't even have to pay the regular 8%.

Guys, going to "local shop" does not mean going to the cigar store or headshop in the suburban mall. These guys are more of a ripoff than many online vendors. You need to find a Middleeastern store in the biggest city next to you. Thats where you will see Nakhleh for $5, AF $8, SB 250 for 15.....etc. and usually if you pay cash you can negotiate better deals. Over the W/E I picked up a complete 28" KM for $40 and MZ for $30 out-of-the door as gifts for my friends.

damn that is very expensive.. i live in Cali and at 100g tin of sb is 12$ i think. but then again i think partially why it is slightly more expensive than other brands is the fact that it comes in a tin can? compared to other brands that come in a box or plastic tub, but thats just a guess.

I've bought SB from the Sphinx Lounge by my house out of desperation but I prefer to buy online, I make 2 major orders a year for shisha usually, a fall/winter and a spring/summer order.
