Default Natural coal material??

ok so i recently got my brand new Km carnival in the mail and have decided that with the new pipe i should be using natural coals as opposed to QLs. so i had a few natural coals kickin around that i got free from hookahstore.com (the finger coals) and i wasnt getting as much smoke out of the pipe as i would when i used QLs. i also used one pharaoh natural square coal(and alternated with a windcover) and altogether it worked ok for just a bit of time but not as good as the QLs. i was wondering if with natural coals does it depend on the material they are made of when it comes to how hot they burn? and does shape make a difference? and i was smoking nahkla sweet melon so i do know that it does take more heat than usual.

I would try to purchase ones made out of coconut. Namely ******* hookah or coconara coals.

What bowl were you using? For a vortex I start with 3 coconut coals and a wind cover. I eventually drop one coal so I am down to 2 and a wind cover. With a large Mod/Egyptian bowl I do the same. With a small vortex or mod/Egyptian I start with 2 and a wind cover and will eventually drop the wind cover. Doesn't matter the tobacco for me.

Some nats to try are CocoNara, ShishaCo, Starlight, and Exoticas. I have used all of these coals and like them all, reason I recommend them.

For me on a standard Egyptian with double layer of foil I start out with 3 nats and go from there. At the first taste of anything remotely harsh, I pull off a coal.

I got some free finger coals from hookahstore also and I don't like them. They don't seem to give off as much heat as a cube type of coconut coal.

do material (i.e. coconut or wood) and shape make a difference?

once it is charcoal it is all pretty much carbon, charcoal is wood that is heated with low to no oxygen so all the volatiles in it off gas and leave the carbon, there are still come but once you light them fully they turn into "coke" which is pure burning carbon. coconut is a bit denser so they last a bit longer.

i use CH coals and have great results with them, they smell some when lighting but thats the only real down side to them, and price wise to coconaras they are a good amount cheaper

Material can make a difference but when it comes down to it they should all just be carbon. What really matters is the density that each coal has. The denser it is the longer it will burn.

I'm not sure if material matters but I use exoticas and they seem to work fine for me. Coals burn hot for about and hour or more
