Default looking to buy first hookah

did some research and i guess KM made out of brass are the best? like the lambo's of hookahs? so i was looking at the "2010 KM kamanja hookah" for around 150$ish?

what are your thoughts? anything better for me? my price range is 200$ish. i could spend more but dont think i want to. also i have been reading that a funnel/vortex bowl and KM hoses are the way to go? any help/advice is appreciated!

Everyone on this site will tell you the same thing "All km's smoke about the same; awesome". I would recommend buying whichever km is the most visually appealing to you from a recognized hookahpro vendor. Km hoses are good but are not washable, I would recommend picking up a washable hose like a narbish or namour and save the km hose for one or two flavors only. Vortex and funnel bowls are both awesome.

Your going to get a divided split between vortex and phunnel fans. I recomend you get both. The reason I say get both is cause this argument comes up 2-3 times a week minimum. Knowing both bowls will help you join In the fun

point taken, i was reading both bowls together shouldn't be more then 30 anyway. not bad. but only issue id have is if i can see the water in this vase? i don't want to get a vase that i cannot see the water, its fine if its hard to see as long as i can if i held it up to light...

EDIT: is it proper to name your hookahs?

haha thats awsome, so you guys would recommend this hookah? not to sound lame or anything but if you had to rate brands of shisha/hookahs to car brands (i know cars best) what would be a kia, honda, pontiac, bmw, bentley (if a bmw 135i or a chevy corvette when naming make and model works better by all means) bare with me....just trying to get a sense of things...i guess just my "lame" way of doing so

EDIT: also what is that jem looking brass part of the stem underneath the tray and above were the hose connects? i love the hookah, just that weird jem looking thing would be my only complaint.

Just to name a few, others may have other opinions:

Al Waha - rusted non-working car in a ditch
Jewels - Chevvy Cavalier
HookahHookah - Toyota Solara
Al Fahkar - 128i
Layalina - 328i
Starbuzz - 550i
Nahkla - 735i
Tangiers - 750i

so tangiers is better quality then starbuzz(not stronger just tastier, juicier)? or is this also debatable like "vortex and phunnel"? also what about hookah brands/cars?

Shisha is very subjective. If I made w car comparison it would most definately be different from yours. For example Nick304 obviously likes nakhla but many on here don't.
Al waha sucks I think everyone can agree on that. Some here like starbuzz best, I personally like traditional tobacco(black mo'assel)
so starbuzz has less appeal to me. I do keep starbuzz around to smoke with my gf.

I personally dont have patience for tangiers, but eventually a tangiers fan will chime in.
Tangiers smokers tend to be passionate about the product.
I don't want to bother with acclimating

Asking someone what the best tobacco is is like asking people what brand of bottled water is the best. It's all based on personal preference and the amount of money you're willing to pay. The price of tobacco isn't really a basis for their quality. Starbuzz is one of the most expensive, but many people prefer Nakhla over SB and Nak is a fraction of the price of SB. The best bet is to try a bunch of different flavors from different brands. A company might have 1 good flavor and the only way you'll know is really to try it for yourself. Take a look at the reviews section to get an idea of what people think and make your decisions off of that for what to try.

best way to find my "tastes" would be to buy a bunch of 50g box's of different brands and different flavor shisha and then go from there and buy bigger once i figure out what kinds i like?

Excellent tip, the review section is great, and if you don't feel like reading, there are tons of video reviews

Or if you get a flavor you don't like, trade it
just be aware you can't trade here until you have 100 posts. But, based on this thread alone I bet you have your hundread by next weekend

i think i got the general jist of shisha, but what about this hookah any insight? im sure with hookah its much like a "status" thing just like other things such as the car you drive and if you buy walmart brand water bottles vs fuji water (lame example i know haha) but what would this hookah be rated i guess? i mean if a PRO hookah smoker came to my house and saw this (hookah pictured above) on my coffee table what would he say?

Any KM will be awesome, we all love KMs
all km's smoke the same since the stem diameter is always the same
brass is beautiful.
However, the most important factor is that you like the asthetic.
If you love it, your passion will be contagious.

do you think where the hose plugs in its going to be a problem? it looks like it will just fall out/off? since it is bend downward slightly? also is that jem looking thing just a cosmetic thing? just a brass bubble that doesn't do anything but make the hookah look like a piece of Aladdin's treasure? haha

One thing is to take the shisha reviews with a grain of salt. I have looked up some reviews on products that I have tried and I don't always agree on the ratings. As mentioned above, the best thing to do is pick some 50g boxes of flavors you think you'll enjoy and go from there. It does get expensive though

how long does a 50g box last? or how many sessions? in a small/medium sized bowl mainly for me alone and sometimes the girlfriend from time to time...

on a normal bowl it would probably last you around 2 sessions (someone correct me if im wrong). If you use the funnel bowls (medium/large) and larger bowls, you're going to be using alot of shisha.

Small phunnel holds 20g(aprox) that lasts 2 hours depending on brand, some tobaccos even longer. Pack it tighter probably more like 30g
