Default Tobacco from Germany

A friend of mine recently broke my MYA bowl, and because I liked it I am planning to buy a new one.
Unfortunately they don't sell any in Netherlands afaik so I got this German Site www.shisha-shop.com.

Because only buying a bowl is a waste of shipping costs, I was looking at the tobacco they are selling, and I saw some really nice tobacco I never tried:
- Nakhla Esk. Apple
- Nakhla Mizo Watermelon
- Nakhla Mizo Guava
- Nakhla Mizo Peach
- Nakhla Mizo Apple
- Nakhla Cardamon, Cinnamon, normal Apple.

Many! But.. I hear bad stories about German Tobacco, because the glycerin percentage that is allowed in Germany is lower than in the rest of the world, which results in dryer tobacco.

But what is the difference between German and 'normal' tobacco? Is it the flavour, or smoke lacking? Or what else?

If there is less glycerin that would result in less smoke because tobacco saturated with glycerin tends to produce the largest clouds. If you find that it is indeed a tad to dry to smoke properly add a little honey or lite molasses to it. Both of those will help wet the tobacco and bring a bit of its flavor back. Adding glycerin will only increase the amount of smoke and it won't add anything to the flavor of the tobacco, ergo not really improving you session. That is of course unless you smoke for clouds alone.

It's not really a loss of flavor... the tobacco just burns faster and the clouds are small. What my friends and I used to do is buy a bottle of Glycerine and add it ourselves.
All hookah shops in Germany also sell wetting agent, like Bahrani for example, that you can add to the tobacco.

If you add wetting agent/honey, is there a loss of flavour then?

If you only add glycerine it won't alter the flavor, but honey based molasses may change it a tad bit. If you have the choice always avoid German tobacco it's just not the same as a ready to smoke batch...

Remember when adding honey/molasses/glycerin don't smoke the tobacco straight after adding mix it through and lit it sit to breath and absorb the added moisture then you should find that the flavor will be better.
