Default Problem with Coconaras

I tried coconaras once before and failed so I thought I'd try them again. I can't get them to work right for the life of me. I light them on my electric stove until they are red hot but they last about 10 minutes before they turn black. Does anyone else have this problem? Am I just missing something with the lighting or something?

This sounds really interesting... It takes me about 8-10min to get my coco's going on my $8 walgreens stove. How do you store your coals (are they in the original box in the plastic or do you leave them out somewhere else)? This might sound like a stupid question but the reason I ask is there anyway that moister could have been absorbed by the coals. You might want to try just leaving some out in the sun or out in the house for a little while and then try lighting them.

I put my Coconaras on my electric stove with a coffee can over them (cut off the lid on both ends) and they light up in about 4 to 5 minutes. I was watching them last night and they provide great heat (nice medium orange) and ash very little, they lasted me an hour with my windcover.

Where did you get yours?? What vendor?? I think there may be a problem occurring with how vendors may be storing them??

I hope we can help you resolve this .. Cheers!

Are you flipping them halfway through on the stove? Someone has some issues that sound like the ones you are having, they cooked their cocos in the oven for a bit (200 F* I think) to dry them out, and that helped.

Huh I'll have to try out some of the advice. I did flip them halfway through and it almost seemed like the tops were cooling down even on the burner. i might try the coffee can thing for starters. Also I havent stored them yet. The first time I tried them I just got two pieces as a free sample from a local smokeshop and yesterday I received a 16pc box I had just ordered from hookahcompany.com. I might try letting them sit out a bit today and then light them with the coffee can and see what happens. Thanks for the help
