Default Splitting?

tried a search and came up with nothing, may have not spent enough time there though... Anyways, i'm looking for the best/most efficient way to split my coals in half. I'm using 3k 33mm, but i wanted to experiment with some heat management and was trying to split them in half. Due to the crumbly nature of the quicklights, they always seem to just break into a bunch of really tiny pieces or into one almost full coal and a really tiny, unusable piece. Tried fingers, tried a screwdriver, tried a couple of other things

So am I missing out on some little secret? Or are 3k just not meant to be split?

I have a small hand saw (about 6 inches), like 3 bucks at your home depot or lowes, works like a charm and cuts through all coals like butter.

Or stop using 3 kings and get some good natural coals so you do not have to split anything. For as convenient as QL's are they are more work and mess then what they are worth.

My coco's are ready by the time the hookah and bowl are loaded and they are easily managed with their block shape.

I would, but I never have a place to light them. Never smoke inside, i'm usually in a park or someplace similar. So no place for a stove, and no outlet for a coil burner.

So then get some similar type CH QL's. Works off a lighter and is a nice block shape rather then a Frisbee.

This is how I split my coals in half. It worked for 3K and it works for exoticas. Keep a wet sponge/ glass of water handy if you shatter the coals and they explode all over the place. Be careful not to burn your house down. I'm not responsible if you do lol.

my wife was trying to smoke with her friend and using quick lights. she went to ash it and when she grabbed it with the tongs the coal exploded and burnt many holes in her moms floor. it was a brand new house too. from that time on i was the only one who set up the hookah!

I use a Hattori Hanzo katana. I would recommend it, though one may be hard to come by.

I would try the KM hammer tongs, it gives you all the tools in one.

if i ever need to break apart a QL, i score it w/a knife first to get somewhat of a straight line then then snap it with my fingers or just continue cutting w/the knife till it breaks

Old serrated knife does work but I have a mini hobby saw, kinda like a hack-saw type thing that is around 6 inches long. Cuts through QL's like butter.
