How does it smoke, sometimes dry is fine, actually usually it's fine, you could add a slight amount of 1 of 3 things
honey, add very little
glycerin, add very little
molasses, add a little more but still very little

I use one quicklite coal cuz I'm using a small 10' genie hookah, the shisha seems to burn the top layer with just 1 coal in the matter of minutes. The taste seems like I'm just gettin the burnt taste of shisha and never really much flavor at all

Might be the coal. Lose those quicklights ASAP.

Make the switch today, quicklights should be saved for when you need them, your go to coals should be nats

Use about a teaspoon of light amber molasses and vegetable glycerin per 100grams of Tobacco to wet it most nakhla's use molasses as a wetting agent. mixi through with wet fingers and let it sit for a while so that the tobacco can absorb the extra moisture. place in ziplock baggie .

I get the feeling you are used to extremely wet tobacco. Is it smoking fine? If the flavor is fine and you are not having trouble with scorching, leave it alone. If it's scorching, try reducing heat and refining your heat management skills.

What coals are you using and how many?

I needed to resurrect some tobacco and didn't have any of the usual suspects so I used pancake syrup. Wasn't bad and added just a hint of maple :-)

if ur stuck using QLs and a tiny hookah, maybe try breaking them in half and placing half on each side for better heat dispersion. also, when you put your coal(s) on, let it set for a couple minutes before you smoke so your bowl can heat up slowly instead of sucking away on the hose like crazy to try to start it faster.

sorry, above you said you were using 1 QL because you were smoking from a 10" (well, actually you said ten foot... biggest genie hookah evar!) pipe, so i assumed u were also using a small bowl.

either way, i stand by my assertion of spreading out the heat. you might just be getting too much heat in 1 spot.

So I figured the heat thing out. Now I double foil and add a charcoal screen unside down so the coals sit I tad bit up, plus I broke the coal in half. I let the bowl heat up the bowl slowly heat up and then I remove the screen after about 5 minutes. The smoke got thicker and there was allot more flavor.

If you're going to stick with QL's my suggestion is to use Holland QL's. They've never done me wrong when I run out of CoCoNara's. And have you tried using a windcover when only using one coal?

Right now, I'm smoking out of a little 10" genie myself with a HH genie vortex and I have one layer of heavy duty foil (shiny side down) with my personal hole pattern, one coal on a quater of the bowl and using a windcover. I leave the windcover on the whole time and it smokes just like my 24" syrian.

I use exoticas or coconaras. I used to love exoticas but coconaras are my new go to coals. I feel like my exotica last a bit longer but I love the way the cocos work
