Default Removing paint off a base?

I was never a fan of the painting from my KM base so I was wondering if there is anything out there that could remove it without ruining the base?

So far I've read that you can use either a single edge blade razor to scrape it off or nail polish remover. What do you guys think?

Hopefully jcfuwbs will chime in and post on how she managed to remove it on hers, I remember she was talking about acetone, but not completely sure.

If you freeze it, it will scrap off easier!

You can get an angle grinder with an abrasive pad. They really arent that damaging, It may work, its really a hardened sponge.

Well, nail polish remover sort of worked. Didn't remove the majority of the paint, but it did remove some of it. I'm gonna try and get a bottle of pure acetone tomorrow. Thanks guys.

Soak in in gasoline and light it on fire, that should take care of it. If not you could always try shooting it.

If all else fails, you can get rid of the paint anyway possible, including guns.

That's what I was thinking Wildman, but I'm not sure it wouldn't scratch the glass.

Any abrasive, ie, sandpaper, emory paper, scotchbright pads, etc., will scratch the glass. Acetone (the active ingredient in most nail polish removers), mineral spirits, paint removers from a hardware store are probably the best way to go about it. There used to be a product called "Zip Strip" which was a thick liquid that you spread on a surface and let it sit for a short time (I believe it took about 1/2 an hour) and it would literally bubble the paint from a surface. Be sure to thoroughly wash the vase when you are done to remove any residue of the remover that you choose to use as it is definately not healthy to be inhaling it or it's fumes. Smoke happy.

any solvent would be fine probably, glass is pretty impervious, only things like very very strong acids will do much to them. for an at home fix probably acetone or denatured alcohol would be some of the best bets. if you had access to more special equipment there are other ways like burning it off by re annealing the piece (slowly bringing it up to the 890-9608F range depending on the glass then holding it for 2 hours at that temp, then down to 650*f after 6 hours from the start of the program then to 90-200 ish after 12 hours of total program time). or sanding/buffing it off but you need wet sanders and cerium to polish

soak the glass base in a bucket in warm water not too hot or it will crack and use a wire bursh and it will remove all the paint what base are you trying to get the paint off?

if you can put your hand in the water there is no issues and as long as the base isnt room temp into boiling hot water or frozen in to warm water there is no worry unless there is a huge weakness in the glass that would break it with little force any way

I used acetone to strip wood stain from a window, pretty sure removing paint from a vase would be no different.

glass is impervious to most things, short of ferric chloride or hydro chloric acid there isnt much that will really etch glass unless it is an antique or extremely shitty glass that has been made like antique glass (no reputable glass shop would make that glass unless they were doing perfect reproduction word because it literally will wear away due the the very high amount of flux in the batch)
