Default Hints to stop coals moving around ?

I'm finally switching to foil after a long time of screen usage, so far i'm enjoying how heat management goes better.
Problem is my coals allways move when i smoke (rumbling from the water).
I'm using a diffuser now to stop them from moving which is going pretty well, but is there any other super secret trick without a diffuser that works ?

pack the bowl more shallow and dont put the foil on as tight
use a base protector
put it on a welcome mat
inhale slower

Not really. If the rumble is that strong a diffuser is more or less the only option.

Thanks, sounds all really helpfull but this part seems to go against every single how-to-pack-your-hookah vid ever

It could probably be my stem too, it sits really wobly on my vase, but i'm upgrading soon.

this is not the best way to pack a bowl, its just a way to use gravity to stop you coals from moving around

Mine move if I'm not using a windcover, lol. Throw on a windcover and I'm golden.. And I'm talking about smoking indoors not out.

You could always check out the homemade section and look for diffusers. Theres a ton of homemade diffusers there, you might even have the stuff to make one.
