Default Vortex bowl broke....

My vortex bowl broke today

The middle 'spire' broke. Anthony (my friend in all my videos) was cleaning the holes with the poker and the top just broke right off... It looks like I have a phunell bowl now lol...

I'll post pics if it seems interesting enough to you guys.

Anyone else had a problem like this. I plan on buying another vortex please dont let this turn any of you off of them as im sure this is a freak incident. These bowls are very good. A must have IMO.

So you just put the broken piece back on and packed around it? I didnt even think of that. But I found local store that sells really small Vortex bowls so ill grab one, mine was a little big so I'll save some shisha.

I considered doing this intentionally. lol. I find the draw of the vortex fairly restricted by my standards. How tall is the spire now? Is it too shallow to use as is or is the top the only thing that popped off?

Images. The top is missing :/ But its a phunnel bowl now, probably gonna get a rod and run it through the middle, and drill some holes in it, and weld the top shut, so itll be a vortex with a few more holes... Planing on buying a stainless vortex now though.

Well I imagine it'll help cook the shisha better on the bottom, it wont break like this... And its kinda cool Since Im a welder I can apprecate things like that XD

But it seems alot more durable, I always take my bowl off with a cloth to avoid being burned, so that wont be an issue. I dont know anything about steel bowls though...

hmmm... that's pretty low. It's kind of just a mod bowl with a very large hole now. A funnel has a much taller spire.

I have no experience with steel bowls but in general I have heard that they have problems with over heating, heat distribution and heat conduction. I would be worried about melting the grommet as metal is a much better conductor than clay. It will get hot much faster and will get much hotter than clay which can result in burning. this is the most common complaint I heard with metal bowls.

That's the genie vortex. They were developed for small hookahs but work great for other hookahs too.

Would you reccomend that? Or should I stay with a larger one?
I plan to upgrade to a huge KM soon.

Go for it if you want to use less tobacco.

that is exactly how mine broke, and just fyi... i tried getting a genie vortex for my mya, because the regular vortex i use for my egyptian was too large, but those bowls are made specially for genie hookahs which have even smaller bowls than mya... so when you get another vortex, you should get the regular one, and while you are at it you might as well order an extra one or two.

All ceramic, glass or clay bowls will break eventually, this is why i always buy my bowls in pairs. So if one breaks i'm not sol.

I shall stick to a regular vortex in such a case... Perhaps even 2.

Yeah, that same thing happened to me in the exact same way. I bought it from HS and the holes were completely plugged with glaze. I chatted with a representative of theirs and he told me to take a small screwdriver to break the glaze out. The glaze was as thick as the wall of the spire itself so I wasn't took keen on the idea but he said it so.... I tried it and the spire broke. Luckily I got them to send me a new bowl that had wide open holes. I used it just fine before I got the new one; just had to hold a finger over the hole while I packed and it was good to go! You might think about getting a replacement to make packing easier (and I think it smokes a little better too).
