Question Quick Light Coal Help

Hi everyone I have some swift lite coals (got them with my KM heart of lion hookah) and I just wanted to know how do you light them to get rid of the chemical tastes. I read the forums and they have said to light it then wait till it ashes. But I want to know fully what to do to get rid of the chemical Tastes.

Thank you

Whenever I use quicklights I light them up with my stove, then blow onto it a bit until it gets completely red, after that its ready to go. You just have to make sure that it is glowing red before using it.

The way to get QL's to perform to their full potential is to get them as hot as they can possibly get. That would be 100% red hot.
remember they are quick light, but that doesnt mean they are quick fully light.
you can light them with a match, but you still have to wait for them to get fully hot, takes at least 5 minutes

i just got some quicklights at a local smoke shop called ram (the brand of coals) and i like them. they had just got the brand in so i decided id try them. they light up a bit slower than others but once the outer layer is burned off they are red hot and already have a layer of ash. basically instantly ready to go.

You really cant because it seems to me that the chemical is soaked into the whole things. Thats why its doesn't last that long, and ashes so much. IMO

I use belgium QL with a torch lighter. I only smoke outside so the fumes don't bother me. But you do have to leave them until there allashed over.

I use 3 kings 40mm QL's. I lit them with a normal lighter, light the sides, and blow till the QL coal is fully red hot, and put it on the foil.

But if you want to get rid if all chemical tastes, you should get Natural coals, they have (almost) no taste at all, but they take longer to lit.

As Grrdante said you really cant get rid of all the taste and it depends on the brand of quick lights u use, some like starlight and 3 kings dont have really anytaste once they are completly red hot and ashed over, others do.

Just make sure you get them red hot i use a jet lighter (10-20$ for a decent one 100 for a damn good one) and there ready to go in about 3 min

I just lights mine on the stove. If you really wanna get rid of the taste you should switch to a natural coal, seems worth it if you already have a KM. coco narahs FTW

Well im not a big fan of quicklites as they cause the bowl to burn faster. But if im forced to use them, i usually lite them up till they are sparking for a while and after its done sparking, just keep blowing on it..also this is optional but before u put it on the head, drop it on the tray to get any unnecessary ash from gettin into your head and effecting the flavor..i would recommend Al Fahker coconut charcoal..Very good quality
