Kinda my thoughts.... Seems like I wouldn't want to start with some half used coals and have to replace them more in a session.

Then again they could be good for adding to a bowl which only needs a little more heat but not a full coal. But I dont think it would be something I ever do or use considering, the small bit of effort I wouldn't want to put out

I don't see what's sad about it it's really not that hard to put coals in a metal tin unless your that lazy... I'm just getting my moneys worth. I've had some last up 40 mins with a windcover. And it is good for when I need more but not too much heat.

I do the same with mine. Put them out and reuse them as additional coals as needed during some sessions. Just seems to me to make sense rather than to just let them burn out and be wasted. Smoke happy.

Good to know! I had 3 partially used coals last night, and I had no idea what to do with them.

yep, sometimes I snuff them in an airtight can, sometimes I drown them. Either way works well. If I have to leave I like to drown them cuz then I know they are out. If I'm just taking a break and want to reuse them I'll snuff them. It takes longer for them to "go out" doing this but they are reuseable right away. Drowning them you have to let them dry well before relighting them. I usually like to let them sit overnight when I've done this. But, either method works well and you can resuse them whenever afterwards. Smoke happy.

it actually works better if you just put the coals under water. then reheat them when needed.

Agreed, they take forever to relight in my experience, But I like the handiness of dumping them in water for a quick session end, rather than dealing with all the ash. Ill usually save them anyways and use them if I get a couple big ones left over.

If I just start a session and I suddenly have to go, I will reuse them, but in case where they are half burnt, it's not worth it, cause when you heat them up, only 1/4th of a coal is left

I'm glad I'm not the only one haha I made my snuff box out of a metal m&m can I got from Michaels for a $1, then I added a metal screen used for sinks as sort of like a ash tray for ash fo fall through And for when I'm moving the coals from my electric stove to the bowl.

This. Unless I can get my hands on some shooting star or something crazy, it isn't worth trying to restart a session. Just pack it again, that'll give the new coals time to heat up.

+1, I don't ever bother with baking them though.

i dont see how there is much effort involved when you are done you put it in the container and then pull them out next time, this sounds like a good idea to me

Agreed, but I guess if you're already going to have to heat up coals they might as well be from an earlier sesh.
