Default Disapointed in coconara's?

So I used coconaras in the old shape, I loved it, now I'm using the new shape and I ain't getting as much smoke, they don't cover
enough space on the bowl...

I use 3 cocos on medium phunnel with narbish and KM hookah...

Other coals cover way bigger area and seems to produce much more smoke...

Maybe cocos need to be smoked with windcover ONLY?

anyone have same problem?

p.s. Yes I heat them red hot

You hit the nail on the head, the cube shape gives the coals a smaller surface area and require more coals for the same effect. I dislike the new shape in comparison.

Though, they're great for lower heat tobaccos like Tangiers Noir, just have to adjust heat management technique.

I haven't noticed that the new cube shape has made them lose a whole lot of coverage area, but it sounds like a windcover might be needed for your setup. With a vortex 3 is pretty much perfect for me.

Thx, didn't think of 4 coals, but how about small phunnel?

not so stoked on the new shape either, initially i though it was cool because they burned longer but that doesn't really matter if they don't heat as well...

So add another coal, the new shape lasts longer so it will work out.
No big deal

Can someone with the "old style" coco's do me a favor and weigh 1 pretty nicely shaped coal(try to look for one with as few imperfections as possible). I have the new style and I'll weigh one, I want to see if we are getting more/less coal for the money.

They last longer, so does weight really matter?

I agree. If the coals last longer, who cares if it takes one more? Seems like these two would cancel each other out...not a big deal!

Use a windcover with 3 coals, if 3 alone isn't enough.

I put my hand in and picked up 5 random new and old coals, all were in good shape. These are the weights I got....
OLD:
7.7g
7.9
9.3
8.5
8.7
Avg. 8.42g

NEW:
9.7g
8.8
8.5
8.2
10.9
Avg. 9.22g

Again this is just based on 5 coals and I would say you are getting about 1 Kilo of coal per box which I believe is what they set out to do and that if I kept weighing the old ones the average may have gone up. I think as far as shape and size and weight overall the new cubes are more consistent and the older stile varies much more which if anyone still has you can clearly see.

New naras burn too hot for me. Resulting in no flavor and charred shisha. Hell, my foil even turns brown now. Def prefer the old ones, but I just placed an order for a different brand.

Windcover makes it taste bad, and isn't as good as another coal well I'm using home-made windcover, maybe that's why

When I heat the new ones I flip them when they are ashed up to the top and there is a little black spot and I leave a few more minutes. When I place on the coal I put the top side which was heated first down on the foil because they are so high now I feel it's a lot cooler on that side by the time I take them off and this way I find there is no burning of my shisha or foil. Works for me..

I never used the old cocos but the new ones are my favorite coals. I use three on a vortex and sometimes throw the windcover on. What did you make yours out of that makes it taste bad? that shouldnt happen

Am almost through a whole box of the new coca....

I started with 3 but started burning a lot of my wetter shisha's, 2 with a windcover works like a champ with stuff like starbuzz and Fumari.

With AF and Nakla I been using 3 with a windcover and sometimes taking off one.

I couldnt imagine using 4 Cocas Holy crap I would burn everything up.

Oh I been using a Vortex.

I kinda like their cubes.... but i never used the other type, I got 4 sides to use.
