Default Dry Ice

Hey guys, I watched some crazy mofo videos with dry ice, and tought to my self, why not use it in hookah?

Anyone tried to smoke while having dry ice in the base? Can it cause your
lungs collapse?

Also if anyone has a cool idea for hookah party, please share

Keep smokin

I have a feeling it'd crack the vase before it got to your lungs, but it doesn't sound like the best idea >_<

Dry ice is solid CO2. This could kill you. The dry ice will sublimate into CO2 gas and that will be all you inhale. This is extremely dangerous to your health.

That is to say nothing of the ambient level of CO2 that the room will now have that can get quite dangerous with even a small concentration.

hahaha dry ice hummmm ya you could do it and maybe get a Darwin award for the attempt. I see a broke vase doing it and some lung problems. I think i will just stick with some normal ice.

yea definitely don't smoke dry ice

on another note, someone here a while ago tried setting their hookah on a brick of dry ice (outdoors i assume) and it ended up freezing the base water thru the base....

I had a friend once put dry ice in water in a soda bottle and inhale the "smoke" it puts off and nothing happened to him. I contemplated this once and decided it was a bad idea for the previous statement that it may crack the base.

Just mix milk and water in the base if you want thicker clouds.

Just make sure you clean straight after use, otherwise it may go nasty.

But I just think that it will act like a ******* along with the normal effects smoking hookah.
(1) i assume he just took one or two good puffs of it, not a 1+ hour smoking session. inhaling a small volume of CO2 won't hurt you (...probably), but doing it continuously == suffocation. brains need their oxygen.

(2) the other thing you mentioned is probably not welcome on this forum. though there are legitimate medical uses for 'laughing gas,' no medical professional would use that term. also, the gas used there is N2O (nitrous oxide), not CO2 (carbon dioxide).

we had a person try using dry ice in the vase before. wound himself up in the hospital, luckily he didn't cause any permanent damage. It's a dangerous game, I'd just stick with normal ice, or a chiller stem.

CO2 inhalation will cause damage that you cannot see.

Inhalation of CO2 is dangerous regardless of the amount. I could get into the ppm it takes to cause damage but it's not worth it right now. The bottom line is that you should never do it.

Putting dry ice into the base would ruin the point of the hookah anyway because it would sublimate into gas too quickly and constantly create positive pressure in the base. This would make it impossible to actually draw through the hose and you would not get any smoke out of the bowl.

I also want to make it clear that any mention of anything illegal or otherwise against our rules is not going to be tolerated. I have already had to edit posts and issue warnings. Consider this a reminder.

I've said it before, I'll say it again:

The hookah base is made to hold water, and nothing else. In a half a millenia of hookah smoking history, if there was some awesome, groundbreaking chemical that could be added to the base, it would be what we are using now. Water remains the constant because it works better than anything else.

Enjoy it for what it is.

I'm just wondering what Mosalles is...

Seriously though, CO2 is dangerous and dry ice is solid CO2.

This is exactly the point I've been trying to make for months.

Glad someone's on board with my line of thinking. Time to load up some Zag.

The dry ice is bad for the hookah and not in the fact that the base could crack. The mayor temp difference would cause the dry ice to cook on the vase. And if you put water in it it will keep producing CO2 which you probably do not want. What you could do is trying to put the base in some dry ice. It should be able to handle the cold.

Ya dry ice was a bad idea, but I asked instead of trying it xD and about the ONLY water part, highly disagree, I don't know the health factor but flavour vise it's good to use milk or other drinks
