Dannngg why are they making such crazy laws like that? Now it explains why AF is so expensive out there.

Canada has strict smoking laws as well. I heard someone saying they pay like $10 for a 50gram pack of AF or something

Pretty much all the baccy out there is taxed a lot and that really sux. Canada seems like such a beautiful country to live in, but their smoking laws suck! :P

Canada has a lot of downsides in that it has high taxes without public services being as extensive or as capable as they are in Europa, no rights for firearms ownership and and ultra PC laws that can land you in jail for offensive speech. The insanely high taxes on tobacco simply encourage organized crime to get into selling cigarettes while the drug problem is as bad in Canada as it is in the states. Basically, Canada is as bad as the U.K. in almost all respects.

It sucks to pay the extra money, but think about it.

If someone smokes for 40 years and then ends up with cancer, why should I have to pay for their medical bill? Why should my taxes go to someone else's dumb decisions?

If they charge for a smoker's license, the money can go to the health care and not from my pocket..

And put yourself in that place - in 40 years, when you have a medical problem that is directly tied to tobacco smoking, are you going to put your money out and fix yourself or are you gonna rely on the money they "supposedly" set aside for you, when your time came due?

There will always be someone, somehwere that thinks they know what's best for everybody else....

And I love this quote from the article: "This is a half baked idea that lacks logic and credence."

You think?

If I am in that situation, I won't hold a gun to someone's head and make them pay for my med bills. That's what taxes are. The government is forcing you to pay for someone else.

That's never stopped politicians before.
There's the old saying that says: "You get the government you deserve".
Well, I'm getting pretty d*mn tired of getting the government somebody else deserves!
