there's a risk with everything you do, you could walk out your door and be run over - dosnt mean you never go out does it ? anyone that tells you smoking shisah is harmless is lying - there's a risk when you smoke anything, if not from the tobaccoa then the coal and carbon monoxide.

The coals are not to bad. They are not soaked in anything that harm you. There only used for cooking the Tobac. However no real big tests have been done so who knows.
Infertility would be good for me along with many others. To many people on this planet so all the help to narrow numbers down the better. Also if you live in a city trust me a little coal is nothing compared to what you breath in the city.

Not sure about infertility, but inhaling carbon monoxide isn't a good thing. The amount inhaled is going to depend on many factors. I know for a fact (according to a CO monitor in my house) that the coals will raise the CO level noticeably and can remain elevated for quite some time, hours in fact. Smoking back to back sessions can raise the CO level to closed to 100 ppm. This is in a closed up house, during the winter time mind you. Proper ventilation would of course reduce the effect.

This sparked a thought in my feeble mind..

My father admitted to me that he started smoking at about the age of 10. I know he was smoking about 3 packs a day when I was a kid. In spite of this long term abuse, I was born when he was 40 years old. Not scientific by any means, but after 30 years of smoking he was still fertile!

Having said that, I've been smoking for about 30 years myself and am (once again) seriously considering giving it up. That would mean all smoking, cigarettes, dokah and unfortunately hookah as well. It's the cigarettes I'm most concerned about, but I know me and I would have to give it all up at once for it to work.

My fertility is the last thing on my mind by the way.

Interesting observation!
My Father had been smoking for 20 years when I came along. And I'm the last of 5!

Smoking is bad.. doesn't mean you should quit. QL contain more chems then nats.. So you should use which ever you think works best for you. And if your really worried about your health then use nats or better yet... quit smoking all together.

I say do what you want. Live every day like its a party

quick lights have have a "safe amount" of gunpowder to get them to light so fast. If you can stick to natural coals.

But even natural coals can be scary .. There is a particular brand that is made in China and it produces a red colored ash. Kinda scary when you think about that! Who knows what they are putting in those coals!?? Seems like companies will cut corners just to save a buck on production, in order to turn a bigger profit, with no real concern for the end user.

As for quicklight coals. I stay away from them unless I have no other choice. When I do use them I light them outside, I am make sure that they are gray all the way around before even putting on top of the bowl. AND after I put them on top of the bowl I let them sit for 4-5 minutes before smoking.

I have completely eliminated quicklights from my hookah arsenal. I dont like their taste and I'd much rather be patient and use something with less chemicals in it that lasts much longer. Consider it kind of like a fast food vs home cooked meal type thing.
