Default Altitude effects?

A friend of mine swore that his lungs became strengthened when he traveled up north (higher altitude, we live at sea lever). I'm not sure if there is any validity to this, but his rings did double in size and his draws were huge. Explanation anyone?

Practice makes perfect. The more you smoke the better your gonna be able to do rings, and the more your gonna be able to drag in. higher altitudes have thinner air, so that might be aiding him, but that also means less O2, so his breathing may be more labored in theory as well.

As Aral said, it probably has a bit a true and falsness in it. Higher altitude does mean thinner air, but also less O2 and more pressure on the lungs. Now that ive simply restated aral let me expands on it :/

It would be the ratio of the thin air: O2ressure. i would imagine that at a higher altitude your smoke is forced to be more concentraded as it travels through your lungs, resulting in thicker clouds, espescially in the thinner air. so it probably is true that the rings are better. However at higher alitude i'd bet he cant pull nearly as much volume of smoke he can at sea level. ive actually kinda done this before now that i think of it. I live at sea level, but i go to a friends cottage up in the mountains.

Its possible because the air up north is thinner then here, so when he came back it was easier for him to breathe and such.
Conditioning maybe

That's kinda true. A lot of athletes will train in high altitude

Well you won't notice effects unless you change altitudes.
So going from high to low = easier to breathe, low to high = harder to breathe

A lot of good input, I'll see if anything happens when I go somewhere high altitude of some time and come back home : D

Edit: Truc here, maybe you should man up and breathe in microscopic shards of metal so you can be hardcore!

Yep, this. Conditioning in the mountains is fun and very healthy. Your friend's smoking was probably just a testament to the shape he's in.

I suppose it has to due with the pressure levels and how the elavation and temperature effects the air

I could see him getting a better buzz up there too. There is less oxygen in your blood. Like how you can get drunk at higher altitude on half of what you can at sea level.

I think the altitude would make a difference for sure but as far as the O's go i would blame that on practice alone
