Question Does Quick-Light Charcoal damage the Hookah?

Ive just ordered my new KM, however im stuck with using my Golden Flash quick-lite charcoals, and i was wondering if filtering the smoke from instant coals through the hookah damaged or compromised its quality at all?

Never heard anything like that. Maybe someone else knows more.

I don't think it would. only thing that might is if you were to leave it on there while it's lighting? i'd just let the quick light stuff burn off and it should be pretty similar to other coals...someone should tell me if im wrong though

Get yourself a charcoal incense burner. They don't cost much, and you just transfer the coal after it's good and red. They also tend to have much more ventilation than your average hookah coal holder, and get red quicker.

/Added bonus. You can use them to burn natural incense too. Such as Frankincense, Myrrh, Copal, and Sage. The natural stuff smells so much better than the cones and sticks.

I've been lighting my ql's with a lighter and then placing them on the km ashtray when they spark, and I've noticed that it has started to get pretty rusty. I don't really care, its the ash tray, but yes, i guess using ql's damaged my km

Seriously. Get something like this:

They don't cost much, and the quick lites will do all their sparking away from your hookah. This model costs about $9, there are uglier ones, and there are prettier ones. They all work well. Just make sure to fill the base with sand or small pebbles.

ql r good for a quick session, but stick with nats they last alot longer and do not damage the flavor. if you want use the jap silver tabs cuz they light easy and dont really damage the flavor of the tobacco. when im on the go i use silver tabs and light them with a torch. to me thats the best alternative to ql. when im at home and i have the time to light coco nara's thats what i use. good luck and happy smoking. ps silver tabs are cheaper than ql's or close to it. and they dont take that muck longert to light!

I use belgian QL's for almost every session. I never have problems. They also don't leave any taste in my oppinion. It is just what you prefer.

Make sure your coals are completely lit, glowing red, no sparks at all! it's the chemical used to light the coal that is nasty stuff, but it's ok once it's burned off then it should act as a normal coal. I prefer Natural coals myself but use QL's when on vacation or in a hurry... it shouldnt do any damage to your rid or tobacco as long as you make sure they are fully lit :-D Happy smoking

QL's are fine in my opinion. I use them everytime and never had any problems with them at all.

ols are fine. ive been using them for years with no damage to my hookahs. just let them sit and get a thin layer of ash before you put them on the hookah. the best way to do it is put one bottom up already lit on your tray or coal carrier or whatever and then put one face up on top of that so they light each other. it works the best and saves fuel in your lighter.

I hate QL's haha, it's just nothing like smoking with naturals. Never heard they can damage a hookah though.
