Default Cleaning Help

Sorry if this has been posted before but I need some help. Ill try to explain this the best I can. Im trying to clean my hookah before I put it into storage for moving. I am having problems getting the part you screw in to secure the ash tray and put the bowl on to get a good seel. Any ideas on getting this off?

edit: added a pic to help

I'm having the same EXACT problem with my hookah. I'm guessing that our problem stems from inconsistent cleaning... some juices probably got stuck in the thread and solidified. I've yet to really try to get it off myself but I'm sure that I can get it off much like a lid on a jar of preserves.

I would try lightly tapping all around the base of the little thingy with the back of a butter knife or something similar to try and break the seal. Also, I've thought about trying to let it soak in some really hot water for a while and see if that would dissolve some of the stuff in there.

Again, I haven't tried this yet on my hookah but these things usually work for a tough jar of preserves.

If you have any success let me know!

Partylobster has some good ideas. another thing you can always do is get a cloth place it over the thing, get yourself some lock-jaw pliers, and clamp them on. Go little by little and you shouldn't have a problem.

Wrap it with some electrical tape to protect the surface and give it a good twist with a pair of pliers.

Wow Glostera, you're so strong :3

When mine won't budge, I just keep the vase/stem secure and twist the ash tray to loosen up the threads.

Soaking it in some hot water, upside down in a sink if possible, for about 15 minutes, should dissolve the gunk that has welded it in place and allow you to loosen it. You might still have to try one of the other methods mentioned, as well, to "break" it loose initially, though, if it was overtightened in the first place. Good luck with it. Smoke happy.

Any update from the OP? I have had a similar problem with my smaller Mya on the purge valve screw in. I would say that soaking in some kind of hot water mixture for awhile should help loosen it up.

Thanks so much for everyone that helped me. I did finaly get it off. What I did was I used the lighter that I use to light my charcoal around the area where you screw on that part. This loosned up all the gunk what was making it stick. I was able to turn the ashtrey and had some "juice" start coming out. After that I just let it cool down and used bruit force to get it off. Hope this will help some of you other guys that are having the same problem.
