Default Acclimating

What brands need to be acclimated? I know Tangiers and Ayam Zaman do. What else?

Not many other main stream brands really need it. Additionally, the Lucid line (no nicotine) of Tangiers doesn't really require acclimation.

Some say that some acclimation is beneficial to all tobaccos.
I am one of them

I don't think that you should have to acclimate any tobacco. All one should have to do is pack it in the bowl and go. No need for long, intricate ceremonies to get it ready to be smoked.

Well, if acclimation is intricate to one, I can see why one wouldn't want to participate in the consumption of tangier's. I use the 4/20 method (4 hours open, 20 hours closed) but it is very flexible and one doesn't need exact timing, just a little patience. To me it is just opening, stirring (regular practice), walking away, living, and if I remember 2-9 hours later, I close it. I don't find stirring every hour to be too important, but I do have fairly large tubs.

I also don't like the 'on demand' thing, it seems fairly superficial (can't think of a better word), and very impatient.

But I know in the end, we are both brick walls, and will only agree to disagree.

Waiting in hour, I wouldn't mind, but this "you can only use it after its been setting in certain conditions, for a certain amount of time, and you have to use a special bowl or it wont smoke right" That's what I'm complaining about. Nakhla, Desi Murli and a few others, it doesn't matter the bowl. You can smoke it right away if you want, or if you would like to acclimate, you can do that to. That's fine and dandy with me, no issues with that. I shall end this rant here, before I really get going.

I don't really find acclimating shisha a tedious process, but each to their own. I let all my shisha sit for a bit, like others said, before I put it into a tub. Obviously some are left out more than others.

I've only a few retorts than I shall halt as well.

Certain conditions is really just acclimation. Adjusting humidity.

Time doesn't really matter but I find better results with an open and close method.

Tangier's excels in a phunnel or a vortex (apparently, have not tried), and I've even seen some posts about it working in egyptians, and of course crowns. I prefer tangiers over nakhla, and desi murli over tangiers.

I like to take my tobacco out to dinner and movie and during the soup course i have it use a tangiers bowl rather than a regular one and we always have oysters cause tobacco digs an oyster fork, and i make sure for the doggy bag that i poke holes in the foil with that oyster fork too.
I figure taking it out with me wherever i go, gets it used to my environment or "acclimated".

Lolhyperbolic.
I use oyster forks on DM, Nakhla, and al fakher. It's not like you need it, I just like to keep my hands clean.

And I wish I could take a hookah all those places. Need to pick me up an MZ Goza.

I recently got some Hookah Hookah that smelled like dentist chemicals. I am acclimating it right now. Hopefully the smell goes away.

I don't know if its beneficial to all tobaccos... But I do feel like the flavors change a week after I open them sometimes. 7Spice every time I first smoke it when I open it, it taste really cinnamon like, a week or so later its really anise like.

Looks like people have different opinions on it. That's to be expected. Some things work for some people, and not for others.

I've never tried acclimating before, I figure I'll give it a go next time I get some Tangiers. Last time I had some Tangiers in my stash was before I knew about acclimating (also before the Lucid line) and I smoked it without acclimating, and it was hardcore harsh! So I'll definitely try it next time.

Thanks.

Yay! Finally got it acclimated right, but I think next time I'll get lime or nectarine. Lemon isn't really a flavor for me.

I am really wanting to try tangiers but the acclimating provess seems like an odd thing to expect the customer to do.
I just never understood why it needs to be, or else its BBQ sauce??
I guess his flavorings have to oxidize??

I think you can find a lot of answers here about Tangiers... It helped me out when someone showed me the link.
http://www.blogdoarguile.com.br/?p=515

Seems to be a Brazilian blog that had some questions for Eric of Tangiers and he answered them....

What exactly is Acclimating? What do you do? How does it work? What does it do to/for your shisha?

Acclimation is the process of leveling humidities. You basically let your tobacco sit out for a sometime (about an hour is good IMO). The tobacco loses out gains moisture (water content), depending on the humidity of the area it is placed in. For tangier's it let's the flavour come out, because the molasses is more prominent if the humidity is different, that's why it will smell like BBQ sauce some, bbq sauce is usually molasses based.

Sorry for my english
