Default coconara question

why do i see most people using 3 sometimes 4 coals? i feel like that is a bit excessive. i doubt they burn at a low temp considering the effort it takes to light them.

I usually have to start with three and take one off. it all depends on your shisha and type of bowl, foil...well actually it depends on a lot of things lol.

I think it is partially the heat distribution I find that if I use three to heat the bowl and get it rolling and then take one off it works very well.
With just one you get a hot spot and it doesnt smoke well. In the end you want to heat the shisha as evenly as possible.

Bowl type and shisha type make a BIG difference, I normally get by with 23 and a windcover, but if I smoke Nak, it takes 3

Tangier's small phunnel for me equals 3 no matter what. Dunno why just works well with SocialSmoke to DM.
Depending on the amount of tobacco and surface area to use, you will most likely end up using 2 or three.

23? wow man doesn't that get a lil harsh? hahaha! but seriously i do pretty much the same thing, alot of times i use 3 nats & a wind cover to get it started & when i'm ready for the second set of coals i only use 2, but like shadow said bowl & tobacco play a big part in heat management

Ya man, the main thing is, it's always nice to have too much than too little. If you put 2 on there and it doesn't heat the shish up enough, you basically wasted 2 coals and bowl of shisha and your time. Just saying. Haha

I use an egyptian bowl for my Nakhla tobacco mostly.
I use 2 coconara's at start, but after 20-25 mins I feel the heat gets less and less, so I add another coal + windcover after some time so it can last me for an hour or so.

Phunnel/Vortex bowls use a lot of tobacco, so more heat is needed to fully use all of the tobacco
