Ice in your base, the coolness compacts the smoke.

Try using a windcover, I made a vid on how to make your own if you dont' have one. It is at www.youtube.com/hookahpro and sammniamii has one too at www.youtube.com/sammniamii

Practice, Practice, Practice!

Heat management is key! You need the right heat to get good smoke, but without burning your tobacco.

Ohh did I mention practice!? (that is a big part of it)

I agree with sam. Also, putting on a lil more coal will help. Don't put on too much or else it will taste harsh

Heat is what really creates thick smoke. You can add more to get more smoke, but you have to be careful because too much will burn the shisha and make it taste harsh. Practice and experimenting is really the only way to start off. Like Sambooka said, try adding a windcover. This can actually add almost as much heat as an extra coal. However, if you leave it on for too long, it might ruin the session. So you have to pay attention to the shisha and sort of "listen" to what it's telling you.

If you feel it getting a little too thick or it starts to tickle the back of your throat, take the windcover off. Then when it's cooled down a bit more and you see the smoke getting a little thinner, put it on again. And so on and so forth. If the windcover doesn't do the trick, then add another small piece of coal. This will largely depend on what size bowl and what tye of shisha you have. So try the windcover idea first and take it from there.

I usually use two 3kings to get thick fluffy clouds, but i use two layers of foil to make sure the tobacco doesn't burn

it's your decision really, if you're in a room. the windcover reflects heat back into the bowl, so you won't have to use that many coals, but if it starts getting harsh, you may want to take the cover off

Yeah, I'm sorry, but I have to raise the BS flag on that one. The Heba Diffuser was the most pointless purchase for my hookahs I've ever made. To me it was a complete waste of money, as there was no noticeable difference in flavor. Thickness is completely out of the question as it wouldn't make the smoke thicker (how is that even plausible).

All it truly does is split up the big bubbles form the wide downstem, into smaller ones for quiter operation and a "filtered smoke". I wrote a detailed review on it in the review section in case anyone's interested. If you feel like donating $10, then by all means go ahead. But be forewarned, it's a waste of money for all the marketing hype it recieves...

i have had the same problem. try 1 three kings broken in half on either side of the bowl. then after about 20 mins get another one and do the same. it will work tremendously. plus i use Reynolds heavy duty foil.
