Play Underground Rap then. The fucking Gangster rappers do not need anymore money. If anything they need to get murdered by their respective gang affiliations and that's that.

Ravi Shankar, Underground (Alt.) Hip-hop
Mya Hookahs (they last the longest, good for financial reasons).
Af and Fusion
Ability to get a card to show you can move your own fucking coals...
Clones of Jessica Alba.

How 'bout this.
No overly LOUD music. Hookah is a chance to relax and socialize. You can't do either when there's (insert name/style of crappy music here) blaring over the sound system.

Well trained people who know how to prepare a hookah right, and dont run around pushing down on your coals "to make the smoke thicker".
Good Hookahs
Good Shisha
Good Music
Clean place... Every hookah bar near me is kinda nasty. Glad I have my own..

Comfy chairs
Indoor and Outdoor Smoking
Hot GUYS too lmao
Good customer service
Let the customer (if they are experience) to ash the coals! I have heard so many bad experiences at hookah bars that didn't let customers do it and it just made them have $hitty sessions.

Good music (nothing to loud or annoying. Something chill)
Good tobacco and have variety of it.
Good hookahs (no knock offs :P )

It depends on what kind of place you looking for. If you're looking to have a relaxing place to chill you should have soft music and low lighting, ect.

But if you want it to be a college hang out sorta place, make sure everone in the place will be able to talk to everyone else, so don't have one section secluded from the other. Make it really social. And have music to match that feeling.

No matter what you do, have comfy chairs, good hookahs and good/reliable shisha.

Good Chill music(I prefer trance/ambient music and maybe some music like Citizen Cope/Donavon Frankenreiter.)
Good Brew
Good Food( like appetizers)
Comfortable sitting. A must.
Good lighting also. Not to bright but not real dark.

i know it is 7 things but that is what I like in a hookah lounge

1)First and foremost, GOOD SERVICE!!! Keep those hot coals coming, have enough employees
2)Good enviroment - meaning decoration, chairs etc; hookah is fromthe middle east, decor should revolve around that theme in my opinion
3)Good hookah - this is a given, if your hookahs are cheaps and your tobacco is cheap your destined to fail; wide variety of flavors; can't go wrong w/ Al Fakher
4)Good Music - I have to say, stay away from rap. it might sound wrong what I am about to say, but even though half the world listens to rap, it doesn't always attract the desired crowd, you want to steer clear of troublemakers; what kind of a hookah lounge doesn't play some arabic music, get yourself some Ehab Tawfik cd's and you'll be straight, live music on aoccasion won't hurt either
5)Good Drinks - tea, coffee, & sodas, I don't think hookah and alcohol mixes very well, could be a little dangerous as well, just imagine a bunch of drunk peopl tripping over a hookah with fresh coals on it

my list is gonna be sorta different, cause lets face it good shisha and good hookahs are a must any time any where.

1. youve gotta have friendly workers, but ones that know what the heck theyre doing. if they say it isnt hitting or it tastes like shit rectify the situation, or if you cant figure it out then offer them something different for no extra charge. keep the fresh coals coming and make sure they do rounds every so often, and make sure they socialize and have instant, regular friends till your gone.

2. the music thing is a bit of an issue, i know. just throw on an ipod over the system or wire up yourself some xm. or just regular fm works as well. mix it up so everyone is pleased. not everyone is gonna like every tune you play, but at least make it so something they like does come up. most people are gonna be focused on their buds to notice the music most of the time anyways.

3. get a tv. if you want get some cable. but make sure you slap a ps3 or a 360 into that sucker for some entertainment for you and others. make sure to have guitar hero and halo and you will have satisfied people, i know i am when i see someone stumming away to welcome to the jungle, even if its on easy.

4. you dont have to do this eventually, but get to where you can have excess supply, and sell some of it. open a store within your lounge. youll bring in some income and you can be known for the best hookah shop in the town.

and 5. differentiate yourself from the competition (either current or future) invest in something that will be unique to your lounge, something like a unique way to smoke, or out of something like the sultan for a set price and make deals for groups of people, like 10 for individuals and 7 per person in a group, and offer a hookah for every 2 people. the small things bring em in

if i decide to run a lounge those are things that would be a must for me.

I would say...
Nice wall color, it makes for a great atmosphere.
nice ventilation, so the place isn't a smokehouse where it's foggy like the golden gate in the morning
Good hookahs, maybe you could be the first to have KM's like crazy
good tobacco-that's a given
good customer service-builds a good rep
hot chicks- always a plus
good food- that way people don't just go to smoke and not buy the food
edit- a must have...strobelights...jk

I disagree with the music. If you want the right kind of people in your lounge, play chill tunes eg . Buddha Bar. Am still a student and a hookah lover if you think this kind of music is for old people you are wrong.

I wouldnt smoke hookah anywhere with loud music. CHILL

As for wall color that i've read above i'd say it right. Choose a royal color like maroon, gold etc

you could always take requests on the music. if you have an ipod hooked up with a really wide variety of tunes then people can listen to what they really want to hear

1. good hookas
2.good service
3.good music, some sablime, bob marley, other slow reggae. some thing with a relaxing beat.
4. option of fruit bowl and smoothie bases.
5. CLEAN place
6. comfortable lounge.
mid to low light.
7. optional reading lamps at tables. a lot of students like to study and smoke.. and if there is low light its hard to study.

i want to open one myself. but its a bitch with the ohio smoking ban.. all the things i want to do are not possible.
