Default New cleaning techniques

I had no lemon juice and I couldn't find any baking soda last night. I had to clean a nasty shisha smell out of my three month old hookah.

I remember my dad used toothpaste to clean guitar necks and it worked awesome. So I used Crest White Expressions Mint flavor. I used paper towels dipped in the tooth paste and water mixed. Used a wooden dowel to push it all the way through and repeated the process for over and hour until the paper towel was clean. Hookah stem has no more funk and is very clean.

I filled my base with water and squeezed in one small orange cut in fourths. Left it over night and this morning I poured it out and rinsed it with clean water. Now it smell clean as well.

Try it! It works! Takes away funky shisha smell.

i've only cleaned my hookahs with water and brushes, but i must say you've inspired me with "over an hour" and "over night" when referring to cleaning yours. my hookahs are going to get it tonight.

HAHAH!...yeah, so I have noticed that certain toothpastes are good for cleaning things other then your teeth, but I never thought about using it to clean my hookah. Thanks for the sweet idea, I might try this next time if im feeling up to it.

I'm thinking of retiring my MYA Vortex back into it's case for a while, but have been putting it off because I wanted to perform a "deep clean" first. Now I'm thinking a little toothpaste on the brush will be the ticket for the stem. Also like the saxophone cleaning kit idea.

Definitely some good ideas being posted on this subject.

watch out on toothpaste
that fluoride or whatever the F it is could react with the metal, but it probably won't.
lol
that was a useless statement.
I'm gonna try getting some toothpaste on my swab that i have and run it through the stem, hopefully it works wonders

I'ma stick to lemon juice and baking soda. An hour? Jeeez, Better sit me down with a movie some sweet tea and some taco bell to help me from dying of boredom. If my hookah gets really dirty I will give the toothpaste thing a try. I am going to use aquafresh though I love that stuff.

Aww shieeeeeet!

I just put two limes (had no lemons or oranges) into my vase and left them soak up the smells. I awoke to a house that smelled of limeade; it was fantastic.

The toothpaste trick worked well, but I should've run it through the stem more times in order to completely remove the smell.

Oh, and the toothpaste cleaning also worked quite well on my phunnel bowl.
