Take the charge and place it a fine wire mesh strainer, a tea ball or orange juice strainer. Go to the sink and run it under cold water for a couple of seconds. Shake off the excess water and pack it up. Smoke on.

The salt allows for water to get colder without freezing. It works and does not impart any taste.

hmm I figured it would.
thanks alot for the suggestions guys, had a hookah session last night with the bsae full of ice, and a little bit more water then usual and that toned down the flavor a bunch, made it a little weak but it was way better then it being to strong like last time.

It may but it's under prolonged exposure. As long as its not done regularly or the stem is kept in it, then it should be ok.

yes, so its something that shouldnt be done on a regular basis
only problem with ice in the vase, and really cold water is that its harder to get huge pulls.
I found I wasnt able to get as big of pulls as usual.
but thats ok.

only other flavor I had was Al Waha lemon.
and that was the shittiest shisha I had ever smoked.
so I just wanted to tone down the watermelon, since I would normally just use the watermelon as a mixer as its so sweet.

have you tried this, or is it just an idea you thought of, I cant imagine this being good for the shisha...not trying to be a jerk, just trying to avoid confusion

that will work...except youll wash off the glycerin and the flavor. the glycerin is the essential component of smoke in the modern hookah tobacco. im guessing much harsher smoke and a completely different flavor

For watermelon, the ice may work. I do know that with harsher flavors like coffee, a cheap bottle of imitation vanilla extract in the base helps mellow the taste out. But how that will work with Watermelon, I couldn't guess.

Well why don't you wash half of it as described earlier and mix it in with the other half of the bowl. Let it sit and stir it once in a while. This should tone it down and allow the washed shisha to pick up some of the flavor again.

I tried it with the grape that came with the hookah. When the bowl was started, the smoke quantity was light but very intense. A couple more pulls and the flavor just kept getting worse. I scraped the bowl and rinsed it in a tea strainer then pushed out the water until it quit dripping. Reloaded the bowl and tried again. The flavor was lessened but not very pleasant. That being the 4th bowl I have tried, I am still unsure if I set up something wrong.
