Default Does humidity affect how shisha smokes??

So... i bought my KM when my friends and I took a trip visit some other friends in San Diego.
Since it was a "special occasion" i guess, i bought some starbuzz to smoke.

In San Diego ((when it was sprinkling often)), and it seemed like i put the coal on and was getting LARGE clouds of smoke with NO burning at all... yet now back in az ((pretty much 0 humidity haha)) it doesn't work quite as well....

Was it circumstantial... or does humidity actually affect the smoking conditions??

Humidity would not affect the Starbuzz Shisha, only high nicotine content shishas like nakhla and Tangiers, maybe AF and Layalina but no so much because of the amount of glycerine and honey.

What is being affected, though, is the coals. Coals are actually used to absorb humidity. When they do this, they will smoke fine in the High-humidity climate, they are acclimated to it. But when you got back to AZ, where it is very dry (like utah, where i live, only drier) the coals retain much of that humidity. When you ignite them, the release of the humidity can cause the coals to give off noticeably less heat, and sometimes give off a smell, and even other times crack.

its not the nicotine levels that are effected.

tobacco is humidity sensitive itself (thus the reasons it grows in specific areas very well and not as well in others).

the reasons it affects tangiers is because tangiers is one of the few tobaccos on the market that is low water content. starbuzz is full of water, the reason the flavor begins to suck after all the water dries out...both the lucid line and the regular line are low water content and thus are hit by humidity changes.

Heres my knee jerk response to this question when it comes up.

Yes, Im sure it does....but I dont understand the mainline concept that evolves from that.

Shisha contains glycerin, a humectant (draws moisture to it). So it leads me to believe that the more available moisture in the air....the more moisture the shisha will pick up.

Its been claimed widely on the net for around 4 years. I still havent seen a bit of math or data to back it up tho.
