Default Nofrendo took a vacation... hehe

MAN I have been busy...

I guess no one noticed I haven't been posting...

You guys suck... TOTALLY J/K LOL OMG AFK

But anyways, I haven't been smoking hookah lately either, and I realized why.

I placed a large order (by my standards) of a kilo total of Tangiers from MNH.

The flavors I got were Spearmint, Peach, F-Line Apple, and F-Line Red Tea.

Getting to the point, I was never able to get them to really... smoke well

I got HUGE clouds and the monster buzz, but the tobacco was always quite a bit too harsh. I could get close to filling my lungs, but could never quite do it without coughing, and to get close took a lot of self control.

It's also a little annoying that I feel nauseous after about 15 mins of smoking.

The only one I have been able to smoke successfully is the spearmint, because of its cooling effect.

I know that Tangiers is supposed to smoke really well if you get it right

I just don't want to feel like I wasted money on this.

I have just about every possible combo of the following:

Smiley's coals, small and large chunks

Easy-Lites

Single Foil

Double Foil

Deep normal bowl (lots of air space)

Shallow normal bowl (no space)

Ice in base

No ice

Medium Phunnel bowl (almost puked)

Mya Acrylic

Mya Bohemian

Can someone please help here. And yes I acclimated. Every flavor went from smelling like BBQ dog food to having a great and distinct smell... if still slightly meaty.

Hello NF, good to see you around again. What on earth does "J/K LOL OMG AFK" mean?

While I have never tried any Tangiers stuff I understand that it is very fussy and hard to get going just right. I have heard that the F-line is very harsh and if you wish to fill your lungs with it you should expect a rough time. Still, that is only what I heard and i'm not a a seasoned f-line smoker by any means.

I would suggest that you may have gotten a bad batch of just missed some fine point of set up peculiar to f-line. I will say that you might want to look into a different, bigger, rig if you are having harshness issues. I also would note that many times when people get sick they smoke too aggressively and for too long. Smoking should be relaxing so worry less about getting huge clouds and focus more on the flavour. I don't inhale aggressively (if at all) simply because flavour is what care most about and my lung lack taste buds.

Anyway it nice to see you around and I hope you figure out what you need too get real enjoyment of the sacred narghile.

Just Kidding, Laughing Out Loud, Oh My God, and Away From Keyboard.

Just a string of overused internet phrases that I am obligated to include after using any one of them.

I understand about the F-Line, but even the spearmint is harsh.

I care about the flavor too, but when you start feeling sick after 10 hits... it's time to stop smoking.

Feels like a bowl that's wasted...

Maybe I should try breaking up my coals smaller? Oh also I tried using it with and without the scalli mod.

Scalli mod makes it wayyy worse

Not dissing on you, but it's a combo of the shisha and your body. Some Tangiers I can smoke for an hour - no issues. Kashmir Peach did what it does to you - I gave it away after the thrid time I tried it and it DID make me sick. :P

But, try using ice cold water w/ ice - chill the base jar and if possible the stem - that does help me to not suffer the harshness for 15-20 more mintues. Tangiers is great, i love the taste, but it's strong. In my opnion, the strongest out there.

When I smoke tangiers - i give up after 30min, any more and I'm sick. My smoker BF can't even do that much - it's that strong to him.

Oh, and reducing the amount of coals will only reduce the amount of smoke & taste, it does make it easier to "smoke" but don't expect much smoke.

I typically use 4 squares of Japanese tabs, spaced evenly along the edge (w/ mod or without). Put them on for 5 min, rotate, cook 5 more, rotate - then draw. If too harsh, I'll remove 1 coal and adjust the placement. I've found the coals need to be moved every 5-10 min.

Plus, make sure you have packed enough shisha into the bowl - tangiers can't be used sparingly. Fill 'er up.

I'd chalk it up to whether you like that experience or not. I've always been critical of Tangiers stuff....

I've made stuff in my kitchen using cheap chewing tobacco that reminded me of Tangiers..... actually thought it was better. I think if you are used to modern shisha, then you may have to get an aquired taste for his "Gulf" style tobacco.

heres my tangiers helper howto:

for a big rig i use:

Medium Phunell (works best for tangiers)

i use 2 coals broken into 4th's... only use 4 at once then after about 15 mins add a second then evey 5 mins add another..

i use "cold" tap water and it works out great...

for a smaller hookah

use less coals like 3 then add them slowly

tangiers HAS to be filled to the top i usually top it off with some other brand like a mint or any other by a different company just to get it going and smoking right.

i dont know

daaaaamn... way to cap on a playa.

I think I'll try topping it off with some After Nine or something.

Oh and BTW, I tried King Moassel Carrot and Pine Bouquet... not half bad. I bought them as a joke, but it was actually a decent smoke

The carrot was actually delicious. Not too sweet. And it really tasted like a carrot. The pine was OK, it was a little bitter though

Actually, spruce flavoured shisha is great. I make it myself using spruce extract you can get from homebrew shops.
