ice water....milk works to some extent but I havent noticed a big difference. it also depends on the brand of tobacco and your set-up

Milk does help, but dont fill your base with all milk or it will bubble through your hose. Cooling your base with ice slows down the molecules and makes the smoke thicker.

as Mr. Bungie said, the main factor is brand of shisha and your hookah set up. Check out the shisha review section, thickness of smoke is a factor in the reviews.

Keep in mind that with ice, the flavor begins to dissapate. Personally, I take flavor over clouds anyday, but if you aren't that big on flavor tha alot of ice is the way to go. You just won't have as much flavor as you would with just plain room temp. tap water in the base.

You can use tons of ice in you vase or you can use coconut milk aswell as soda but the soda is going to make it so harsh to smoke.

From my experience, milk doesn't help at all.

Your best method is just more coals and good packing of the bowl. Also, ice makes the smoke cooler

Stupid question. Since i'm lactose intolerant will adding milk have effects as if I dramnk milk? I'm not effected by lactose too bad unless I drink milk directly. I still eat ice cream and stuff without much issues.

Milk has never been worth it, worst case cenario (which happens often) is getting milk in your hose = time to throw out that hose. Just go with ice!

I use a mix all the time... SB irish cream and Rockstar roasted latte (cold) in the base I use the 16 oz can then fill to my line with water... damn i need a pic or vid of it... i have no problems... but i still wash my hose always and hookah

best to clean or at least rinse the hookah after every use. that why build up is minimal. Milk does help not much

probably not since it is a digestive issue but you could have other sensitivities to it. if you feel like it try and just dont be totally surprised if you have a reaction, i would bet you wont but never know

i still dont get why people care soooooooooooo much abut clouds, ya i like my clouds but not at the cost of flavor.

a diffuser should make less smoke. seeing that it makes smaller bubbles which make it go through the water more meaning more of a filter less of a smoker. smoother smoke though

ice with cold water and your setup are the factors.

I think filling your base with anything to increase smoke density is a bunch of hoopla. Its not gonna "condense" your wispy smoke when you dont' have enough heat. The key to get it milky is to 1) not have any leaks in your hookah where you could bring in fresh air and 2) have enough heat that you're bacci is @ the cusp of burning (or less for more flavor).

well, having a cold liquid will make the smoke denser...the molecules are moving slower and dissipate slower

yes but the amount of time the amount of smoke that is in contact with the water is very very short/low. dont get me wrong ice water makes it a little cooler but its such a short amount of time before the ice melts and all that proper heat management is the true key

edit: beaten by matta.

<chop>

Maybe if we had the smoke going through some sort of freezer (hmmmm....) then i could imagine the difference would be noticeable.

I have a mini fridge right next to my couch maybe that's a possibility lol.

if you want to cool it much you would need to make a copper coil that the smoke runs through that is submerged in ice water (preferably salt ice water to keep it cooler)

that kinda sounds doable. How much coil do you think you'd need?

edit: and is copper the best choice as far as inhaling fumes go? I don't think the heat is an issue but i wouldn't want the smoke to taste like copper either.

well i think copper should be safe, i mean most water pipes in your house are copper and brass is mostly copper so i dont think there will be an issue, you may just need to clean it out like you do a hookah. to get coper to the point it would be dangerous to breath, well you cannot do it in the home, it needs to melt (1800*f ish, dont remember the number off hand) then boil (3000*f). <metals rant> people always worry about if metals are safe to heat, for the most part the only things you should worry about are lead and zinc, and even those there is not enough heat from a hookah coal to do much with those metals, maybe a little on zinc if you put a coal right on it and hit it with air to get it hot but even that is not going to give you much. brass (which is just copper and zinc), copper, silver (sterling or fine), gold, platinum, palladium, etc should all be safe to be heated to the levels used in hookah, even with a coal right on the metal it self. and while zinc can leach out of metals it is alloyed in you need to get the alloy pretty close if not to the melting point (anhydrous melting point) which for brass is still very high for our uses (900* C, to lazy to convert it to F but ya its like 15-1600 *f i think) </metals rant>

as far as how much if it was me i would make a large coil, you just get the dead soft copper pipe from the hard ware store and coil it around something like a glass or large tube to give it a shape (make sure the coils have space between each so it can have the most surface area to the water). i would make it with at least 2 inches inside the coil if not 3 or 4, and probably 6 inches long, probably 4-6 coils as a guesstimation, or what ever the cooler you have will allow
