Default Fridge experiment results

A couple of days ago I posted a doubt I had about storing the shisha in the fridge. The amount of replies in favor is almost the same that against, so I decided to call it a tight. With this decision I followed the suggestion of doing some experimentation about this topic so I stored a small sample of nakhla mint in the fridge for almost 24 hours, then I prepared my bowl and started the session. After this I prepared another bowl but with some nakhla mint that I stored in my cupboard and did the same.

With such a big project like this (haha just kidding) I came up with the next results:

There's just a slight difference between boths samples but the one I stored in the cupboard was a little bit tasty but the difference was nul. So I think my experiment is totally irrelevant, I think that the reason of why some people have bad experiences with storing their shisha at the fridge is because other factors such as humidity or distribution of the molasses.

So I conclude that you're never going to know if the fridge helps or harms your shisha, it depends on factors you can't control until we do more experimentation about this. Maybe this experiment was very superficial and we have to dig a little bit more this matter.

Thanks for providing us with your results! lol

After I read your results, I think it also depends on how cold your fridge is, how juicy the tobacco is, and how long you keep the shisha in the fridge

I think the last bit is what will effect your shisha the most. I'm sure if you leave a tub in the fridge without touching it for weeks...i'm sure there will be some drastic changes

24 wouldnt make a big difference. I had nakhla in the fridge for more than a month in the fridge and still smoked perfect but took a bit longer to reach its full potential. I;ll be away for the next week so i'll put some mollases in the fridge and test then next week to post the results.

Cheers

If you keep your tobacco airtight I don't see how it is going to get dried out when placed in the refridgerator. I personally don't put it in the fridge because I am too lazy to leave my room when I want to pack a bowl, but since it makes no difference then why put it in anyway? Internal conflict like these plauge me. At least it doesn't mess it up.

Yeah my results weren't as promicing at they seem but as I said it depends in other factos sometimes you can't control just as the tobacco humidity resistance, how juicy it is and sometimes the cooling capacity of our fridges. But yeah the time factos is important too, how old is your tobacco and how long do you keep in the fridge so haha let's keep experimenting.

What are people trying to achieve by putting tobacco in the fridge? The lack of a con does not mean the presence of a pro. I have never experienced anything that would tell me my stock was harmed by sitting at room temperature. I have never heard of anyone claiming benefits of chilling their stock. I do know that two possible effects are increased rate of drying and absorption of strong food odors in they are present. Sorry, your "airtight containers" can not be air tight unless they have a pressure fitting or you are sealing them with something.

So why the interest?

More tests

Shisha in a none tight canister in the fridge vs in the cup board would be good to see how much moisture in a week the fridge would absorb from the shisha

Not demanding ... up to you

try lighting your coals in the fridge, now that would be something interesting.

anyway, i can see how after a long time the humidity inside the container would change because all surfaces are somewhat porus, including plastic. The time it would take is the main factor though, a week seems about the time where a sealed container would begin to acclimate.

... but then again, I'm just talking out of my ass

Heres the deal on refrigerating shisha. Refridgerators run on a compressor that removes moisture from the air inside. Shisha needs to keep its moisture as the act of smoking hookah is actually steaming the tobacco and juice. Refrigerating will decrease the moisture level in your tobacco and degrade the performance.

Just keep your shisha in a tight container in a room temp. average place and it seems to last forever. I mean Ive used nakhla that was a year old and had no problem. Al waha seems to go bad after awhile too much liquid i guess.
