Default Tangiers worries

I just received my shipment today of a small funnel bowl and 250g of Cocoa tangiers.

My worry is that the tangiers smells more like molasses than it does cocoa. When the residue dried on my hand a bit it smells more like cocoa.

The tobacco has been acclimating for about three hours at this point. Will it smoke the way it should?

More than likely if you pack it right. You can find a post using the search engine to find a guide on how to do everything with it to get it smoking like it should. Good luck on getting it smoking man!

you should be fine! Tangiers often tastes different when it smokes than it smells beforehand. If your not happy, however, you should let it acclimate for a bit longer.I've never tried the cocoa myself, but I hear it is one of the better flavors so hopefuly you won't be dissapointed.

Yeah, I wouldn't worry yet. All of my Tangiers has had a bit of that molasses smell but it hasn't affected the smoke at all.

It's also quite possible that it's not fully acclimated yet. I always leave mine out for 24 hours, and I notice the smell change even a few days later.

Just let it acclimate a little more...Maybe the smell will be more pungent if you let the tobacco air out a lil longer

I didn't know you have to acclimate your tangiers, well I've never bought it... but does tangiers is the only brand you have to acclimate or also you have to do it with other brands!?

Yeah its the only one that you absolutely HAVE to acclimate, or it'll taste like soy sauce. But damn its worth it. I've never smoked a tobacco with more flavor than tangiers. And if you like big fluffy clouds it'll do the trick very very well.

I tried it out last night with my new Funnel (awesome by the way). The flavor was not nearly as strong as I was expecting but I am letting it acclimate for a while longer and seeing what that does for it. The smell has gotten much better since yesterday but also less pronounced.

The session was amazing. We let it die after about 2 1/2 hours of smoking on it and tried out the other flavors. Still plenty smokable. Could have gone for another hour easily. I am really looking forward to what tangiers can do and I excited for the cocoa at it's full potential.

Thanks everyone. Price may limit me from being a true convert but it will definitely be park of my usual stock.

I will probably be trying it again either monday or tuesday. Tonight is a night that I need to myself and smoking hookah is a very social practice for me. This may be a good night to take out one of my favorite cigars that have been aging for a while. Also I left my hookah at the house that has become our nerd roost and gaming spot.
