Exclamation Exotica coals, lighting them.

So I am getting a Hookah that comes with Exotica coals. From what I have seen these coals you have to heat them up by a stove.
Now, my stove top is one of those flat and electric tops. Would this mess my stovetop up?
If so, is there another way to light them with out using my stove?

You can pick up a inexpensive single coil burner at Walgreen's for around $15. Very effective way of lighting naturals if you have nothing else. I don't think you will be able to light them on your stove top. The flat surface would be a problem I would imagine.

yeah... just go to walmart and buy a single burner that plugs into the wall. I use it exclusively for Hookah coals. Also, it's only like 8 bucks or something ridiculously cheap.

TiffaAce- Whatever you do, do not light coals on a flat glass stove!

The Coals are known to crack and break the flat surface glass for some reason. I've heard it happening to several people. So please be safe and buy a portable plug in coil burner.

I got my burner at walmart for 8 bux works like a charm! Best investment I ever made for my hookah

You can also use a common ligther but is going to take like 3 years to lit that shit up, so yeah but that "inexpensive single coil burner". good luck!

Yup hot plate burners are the best. Make sure you get the SINGLE coal and NOT the flat plate ones because they take forever to light up.

Also, a blow torch works too...But I think the single burners works better

Your stove top is fine, it wont be a problem. The Admin here SanB, in a how to video me made for us he lights his exoticas on exactly that kind of stove. I really wouldn't bother with getting a hot plate unless you play on traveling.

Martello, she is using an electric stove yes, but it is surfaced in a sheet of tempered glass. The coils are not exposed.

you probably should get a hot plate because at one of my party's once someone put a coal in my favorite ash trey it was made of like 1 inch thick glass and it made it so hot it exploded also the new glass to fix a stove top is like 300 bucks so it not worth trying.

Please go for the $10 coil burner, it makes no sense to risk your glass stove. I have one that I got from Walgreens and I use it only for coals. I also put a aluminum foil tent over the coals on the burner -- speeds the heating process and stops any sparks from jumping too far

Ahh "flat electric top"
Sorry in all honesty i made that mistake because i've really only seen a glass top range once - i never think about them
My mistake.

Though unless I've seen it with my own eyes, I couldnt think the coal would break the glass. Leave a mark maybe.

ok dealing with the glasstop stove. it is fine. i tried itlast night. no marks on it at all and the ash just wiped up with a damp papertowel after the glass cools down. the coals also don't ash up like on a traditional burner so you might heat them up more than wanted which leads to the cracking of the coal. but it is fine!

The coil burner is practical, but if you want to look like a badass, go for the torch.
