Default Type of clay...

So I was just sitting here wondering what type of clay/ceramic is used to make bowls for hookahs. I was thinking about making one of my own and I want to make sure I get the right stuff for the job.

Any suggestions?

Thats my current project.

Use cone 5-10 high fire clay, WITHOUT grog.

If you dont have a kiln there is LOW fire, but it isnt nearly as strong and i have heard of people adding heat afterwards, and it somewhat melting/ctaching on fire.

My grandmother has a kiln, it's not a high fire kiln though, it's a porcelen (sp) kiln that she had when she used own a doll shop to make dolls.

I think i'm going ot og take a look at it this weekend as a matter of fact, now i'm interested

Thanks for the help guys. I'm searching around town to see if I can find a kiln to use for the project. I'll keep everyone updated.
