Me too, I was sick to death of the inconsitancy of Exoticas so tried the coconaras and haven't looked back, every one is perfect and last alot longer than exoticas without breaking, exploding and stinking the place up.

I voted Coco's, but it's a toss up. I love Exoticas and Coco's both, the only reason I went Coco is I liked the heat they produced, although the ash was strange. But I still have 2 boxes of Exoticas.... and no Coco's - Exoticas are cheapier and easier to purchase.

I have not been able to use Exoticas ever since they came out last year. I am a strict Coconara user, but i hear those compressed coconut coals from HC are very good...

A friend of mine tried out the coconut charcoals from hookah company and apparently they are just as good as coconaras. They are also quite a bit cheaper.

I'v never really had a problem with the Exotica's like some people but I stick with the Coconaros. Last longer, less ash, and they have the PERFECT heat for my Tangiers

I just bought a kilo of Exoticas to try. What's this about them exploding and ruining carpets? Is this happening during lighting or when they are sitting on your bowl?

This review can't come soon enough. We need someone that can compare both and provide the pros and cons of each.

lol i know. It takes a drill to break them in half. Not saying that i break them in half, but my tongs are not strong enough to break them in anyway.

they are japanese quick lights, meaning you still need a stove to light them, but after you light one, you can start the others on top of the first set

they are very very clean, have perfect heat, start on themselves, and add completely no taste.

Enough of this bickering! There are a few of you that already have both types of coals that have been posting videos. Make a great review that will pave the golden path to charcoal enlightenment!!!

My next video will be a Coconara review, for sure. Probably another double with some shisha.

well ive tried the 16 piece box of coconara and i have not tried exoticas yet, however,, the coconaras are decent they last a while but i dont see the great heat that everyone claims it has i can barely get my medium phunnel going with 3 of them were as i can get thick ass clouds with three qls, they do ash but very different then other coals they ash into little black pebbles if you will i feel like im blowing gravel off my bowl.. and they have a strange smell when lighting on an electric coil stove. but in the end coconaras are pretty good but i would like to try exoticas just to see which i would prefer more. but the one advantage i have with coconaras is the fact that their master sales warehouse is in DC which is 15 mins from me so hella quick shipping! lol

There's really no way to actually truly compare all the coals. Exoticas are different for everyone, some people get bad batches (like me) and some people apparently get good ones.
When I compared the two, Exoticas couldn't compare to Coconara in anything but lighting quickness and cost. They lit very quickly, but when left 1 minute over their heating time, they started to crack in half and were not lit in the middle. They gave off barely any heat, and were 1/2 as dense as Cococnara felt. Coconaras can sit on the burner for 20 minutes or more with no adverse affects other then a spent coal. I believe it was an unfair comparison because of the lack of Exotica quality. I got coals that were light, flaky, and held together poorly which could not retain heat. These are the same Exoticas that i had been getting for 5 months prior, at 4 months their over-all quality started to go to shit.

So my bias is with coconara because of density, longevity (1/3 longer then .25 Exotica because they are denser), ease of use (no breaking), and ability to retain heat. They give off a lot of heat, and it is easy to burn a bowl at first.

There is NO PERFECT COAL. But Coconara come close in a lot of aspects based on many tests i have done and their direct comparison with Exotica coals.
