Default The Best Coals?

So some friends of mine and I are going camping and I am bringing my hookah for some chill times. After explaining some basics of good hookah to my friend who is orchestrating this adventure, she would like me to "get the best coals" as the hookah will take a prominant role. Now I usually use quicklites, as much of my smoking occurs outside, and it is easier but I will be able to use nonquicks on this trip. Any suggestions on quality nonquick coals? I hear lots of brands tossed around, but since I usually use Ahkla quicklights I don't pay too much attention. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

If you want to spend the $, coconaras are a great coal. But from a cost perspective, exoticas are easily the best buy and a darn good coal to boot. you'll probably only have access to these product via online purchase, however.

I would say exoticas. They are natural charcoals and they are square-shaped, which means they won't roll off the hookah bowl^_^

Not only that, they have no taste and they light up in only 5 minutes

But then again, it all comes down to self-preference

Coco-Nara's. Way more consistent than exoticas. cost a little more, but well worth it.

I would say just stick with the QLs. You're going to be outside on top of camping - so you might not have exactly what you need to get a natural coal going. Also, outside if it happens to get a little cooler, QLs burn a little hotter. You're looking to have a good time not fuss with coals.

Since you'll be outdoors, I'd have to agree that quicklights would be the most practical - maybe she can get you some of those Japanese silver jobs -- or you could just chuck a few fresh embers from your campfire up there ;-)

When you get back home get yourself a coil burner and some Coconaras

Don't believe the hype. Exotica's are better than Coco naras. I know, I have used both. If you want to wait forever for your coal to be ready, pay at least $13.95 for less than a kilo, want to flip your coal every 5 minutes or it goes out on one side and gives off a nasty taste, and you want to use a chiesel to break them then get Coco naras.

Just use the camp fire to light naturals.
Hell if you are adventurous you can use the coals from the fire.

I've done this many times! There is absolutely nothing wrong w/pulling coals from a campfire. As long as it is wood you are burning. They won't burn as long as a proccessed wood coal, but you've got an entire fire in front of you.Who cares?!

Exactly. Try and grab from well cooked hardwood. It's best at the end of the night. Try to avoid using chemicals to start the fire. Everyone should know how to build a good fire anyway.

You should get 3 kings QL. If you have a heat source better than a lighter then get Exoticas.

He meant that they will burn away much faster than actual coals like exotica so you need to change them more often. Ya you can but branches tend to be too small. Grab chunks of coals about the size of a coal you would use regularly if not a little larger.
